I use this jacket for Spring/Fall motorcycle riding, but it should not be considered "safety wear". It will protect you from wind and rain, but not asphalt.It's outer-shell is confirmed to be waterproof. It is fleece lined with a mesh inside liner. Even though it is fleece lined it is still lightweight. I'm 6' 3" tall, weigh 230 Lbs, and have a 47" Chest. The XL fits me perfectly.
