Much better than Powerbeat2s - great fit, sound, and experience. Love my X2s!
I recently lost a pair of Powerbeats2 bluetooth buds to shoddy quality and a crappy 12 month warranty. Thanks Apple! I was incredible fond of them, used them every day, but the ~3h play time (charge them every day) and 15-month lifespan, and the refusal of Apple to stand by the quality of their products made me wary to invest in a second pair. Having read a lot of reviews, I picked out the Jaybird X2s as being a good mix of sound quality, comfort/fit for biking/running or just hanging out, and good customer service. They weren't the best rated in every category in the reviews I read, but a consistently high overall performer. I've had my X2s about a week now, and I love them. First, the packaging is every bit what you expect from a high-end product. Minimalist, millenial, pretty, fun to unwrap, full of surprises and bonuses. What's this little packet? Oh, a set of six (six!) different bud inserts of 3 different sizes in either foam or sillicone. What's this little sealed pack? Oh, a set of three differently sized ear-inserts so you can get the perfect fit! It was a fun experience opening the pack. There was a temporary moment of disappointment when I plugged them in to charge and for a while nothing happened. And the quick-start guide is weak... I had to go online and download the whole manual. But this lasted only a few minutes. First experience of switching them on and charging was great - I love the verbal feedbak these give you: "Power on! Connected to phone!". No issues at all. But lets get to the point... how do they perform? Sound is excellent, far better than I expected. I loved my Powerbeat2s and didn't think the X2s would compete. But they do. In fact, the X2s can achieve a much snugger fit so I'm both hearing my tracks more clearly, and using a lower volume. In downtown Seattle I often had to turn the volume of my Powerbeats to max, whereas the X2s I don't even adjust between getting off my bus and walking to work.I play mainly podcasts, some music, and the vocals are crystal clear, and the music I've played sounds great. Traffic and city noise is nicely blocked out. Audiophiles may have a different opinion, but I think for buds these provide great sound I've used the microphone for a few phone calls - one from downtown Seattle (hi mom!) and the other while freewheeling downhill on my bike. Lots of traffic/wind. Both of the people calling me could hear me great, no-one complained about "blipping in-and-out" or asked me to repeat anything. This was a common occurrence with my Powerbeats, and I'd often have to whip out my phone's corded buds for any phone calls. No longer! The in-ear insert method of securing the buds is momentarily weird, but then so were the first set of buds I ever used, way back when. After two minutes it feels totally normal. And providing you select the right size combinations of insert forms/bud covers you can get a very secure, tight fit. Once you've done it a few times, they're even easier to fit than over-the-ear buds. I'm still playing with the fit and feel (my left ear is annoyingly smaller than my right, who knew!) but I wear these for an hour at a time when commuting, and don't even notice them. Battery life is excellent. My Powerbeat2s would last maybe 4 hours, maybe a little less. That's not even two full commutes. So I basically charged them every day to avoid the disappointment of suddenly dying buds when still 20 minutes from home. I ran the X2s for 3 days (because I forgot to charge them) and they were still running. I kinda wanted to see if I'd get a "Battery low!" voice in my ear, but it never happened and I didn't want to push my luck. Is there anything not so great? Yeah, I kinda thought the 'Storm' white color would magically have a white cable, but no, its black just like the picture. I don't know why I'm surprised... I got exactly what I ordered! And as I said above, the quick-start guide is crap and you will need to download the manual. Probably my two biggest (yet still small) complaints are: 1. I think the cable is maybe 1 or 2 inches too short. I feel like the microphone piece is being pulled away from my mouth, and it doesn't *quite* feel "even", like the cable is not quite situated on the back of my neck. But it doesn't seem to affect how well people can hear me on phone calls. I think I'll get used to it. 2. The bluetooth range is also just fractionally limited. On my bike I have to put my phone in my jersey rear pocket to shorten the bud-to-phone distance, whereas I'd normally have it in my panier bags. That said, my old Powerbeats would get interference and blip out when I walked under the electrified trolley-lines... the X2s don't, so I'll take it. All in all, a great product, better than I expected, and I'm thoroughly enjoying them. (and cheaper than the Powerbeat2s)!

No sound in left earbud :(
I just recently completed a return for this product and due to the cost decided it would be appropriate to leave a review. These were purchased as a gift for my husband. He is an avid weigh lifter so I thought the wireless Bluetooth component of these headphones would be perfect for him. He loved them the first day he got them, great sound quality, great fit, etc. Unfortunately the first day he went to actually wear them to the gym he found that there was no music coming out of the left earbud. He had read some reviews questioning the authenticity of these headphones so he had already gone through and done a thorough analysis to make sure these were not counterfeits and he didn't think they were. Upset that the left ear didn't work he tried everything he could think of to get it to and was unsuccessful. He tried again when he got home from the gym and it worked fine. Frustrated he thought maybe it was a glitch and tried them again. This time he determined that if he put his phone in his pocket while in the backyard the Bluetooth wasn't strong enough to maintain a solid connection to the headphones so they cut in and out. Overall these headphones were way too expensive to deal with all their issues so we returned them. The concept was great and maybe we just got a lemon but overall we wouldn't consider re-purchasing them and opted for a refund in lieu of an exchange and have since purchased a different pair that he's happy with.

Temper Your Expectations
If you want to order these earbuds don't click the buy button before lowering your expectations. I thought that once these showed up at my door that I'd throw my old pair of earbuds into a drawer never to see the light of day again. I was very wrong. I'll start with the things I dislike about these earbuds. First, the bluetooth connection is finicky and can disconnect often. Initially this was happening several times an hour. To reconnect meant powering them off and back on then dragging out my phone to get the music going again. A quick look at the Jaybird website and I noticed that the recommended range for bluetooth is 2 feet! That's right. 2 feet!!! This pretty much requires you to have your phone in a band on your arm. I've had my phone within 20" and the connection dropped because I turned my head to the side. Might as well use wired earbuds. The second thing I found disappointing is the fit. I use these at the gym and while they are comfortable they need to be readjusted every 5 minutes. This is despite the tedious process that I went through to fit the correct size fins and ear pieces to my ears. Nearly all my time at the gym is weightlifting so I'm not even running and bouncing around yet they still love to creep out of my ears. The conform ear inserts are also showing heavy wear after only 48 hours of total use. If you think you'll be using the conform inserts you may want to look at using some from another company or else plan on replacing them often. The final thing that irks me about these earbuds is the estimated life of the battery. I'm not talking daily use, but instead the number of charge cycles. Jaybird estimates that you'll get about 120 charge cycles before these are ready for the trash. If you're using these for 2 hours a day you can plan on throwing them away after roughly a year. Ouch! That's $100 a year on earbuds! So now the positives. I do use these in the gym for roughly an hour a day. I log all my exercises on my phone so not being tethered to my earbuds allows me to set my phone out of the way while doing my exercises. Ultimately this ability is so important to me that it is the only reason that I decided not to send these back. However, outside of the gym I ditch the Jaybirds and use my $9 Panasonics as my go-to earbuds. I'm much happier with the wired Panasonics. The Jaybird X2s do have plenty of bass and I'm satisfied with the sound quality overall. I do have to charge them every other day or I run the risk of having them shutoff in the middle of a workout. Happened once and it sucks. In general I'm disappointed with the X2s and I blame that on my high expectations when I ordered these. If not for the ability to allow me to set my phone to the side while at the gym these would have been sent back long ago. If you're looking for a great pair of earbuds to get you through the day and you can tolerate wires then I'd give these a pass. I'm really hoping that the release of the X3s will resolve these issues and better meet expectations of what bluetooth earbuds should be.

Bottom line, l recommend them as long as they fit you properly.
//update 8/10 So, I kept experimenting with the fit since after an hour I was getting ear pain on the left side, regardless of which tips and fins I chose to use. Switched to the over the ear "alternate" configuration and it seems like this should really be the configuration the headphones are designed for. Great fit without using the ear fins (I use the size L silicone tips), no discomfort, great sound quality. There are a couple of disadvantages to using over the ear. The receiver and controls are on your left side now and so if you keep your phone in your right pocket (like I do) you will get more frequent disconnects when using them outdoors. Second problem is that the microphone and controls are now tucked up behind your left ear which means voice control and phone calls are problematic. If I need to take a phone call or use Siri I briefly pull them out and switch to the under the ear configuration and just leave the cord dangling under my chin. Looks goofy but works. Last and very minor problem is that you are listening to your music now in "reverse" stereo. Sounds that are supposed to be on the left are on the right and vice versa. Can be a bit off putting if you are a music snob (like me) and are used to things sounding a certain way with your favorite tracks. //original review follows First off, this product is getting short shrift in the Amazon reviews section due to the number of reviews that point to counterfeit product being sold via shady Amazon re-sellers. If you removed all of those reviews this product would probably have a 4-star average review rating. It's not Jaybird's fault that someone in China copied their product and found resellers willing to move those fakes on Amazon. Now, onto the review. I've been looking for a solid BT headset for quite some time now. I have been suffering with inferior headsets while mountain biking for quite awhile now, most recently Sony SBH20, which is decent, but suffers from poor battery life, no Siri integration, and a few other limitations. I came close to buying a set of Bragi Dash phones but was having a really hard time stomaching the $300 price point when reviews of the product are fairly poor right now. I saw that the X2 price through Amazon direct was all the way down to $84 and took the plunge. These headphones come in what I would call a wasteful amount of packaging, although it was nicely presented. Probably took 5 minutes to get them out after removing all of the various little plastic tabs holding them in place. Jaybird splurged on excessive pretty packaging that goes as far as to include a magnet closure on the package lid but yet couldn't include even a single leaflet that covered the headset functions. Kind of ridiculous really, but a quick trip to their website gives a PDF that has instructions for pairing and controls. Charged them up for an hour and then paired them quickly with my iPhone 6. Spent the next 30 minutes listening to them and experimenting with the numerous fit options. I'm a medium/large guy and settled on the large silicone tips and medium ear wings. The ear wings are really touchy about comfort, just a tiny bit of rotation on the ear-piece can be the difference between a good fit and a poor fit, or worse, discomfort after a short period of listening. Sound quality on these is impressive for a bluetooth set up. It does not rival the sound quality of some of my higher end Shure headphones but sounds much better than all of my lower end headsets which includes a variety of $50-$80 earbuds. They get plenty loud. Anyone complaining they don't get loud enough ought to get their hearing checked. I've got some mild hearing loss and tinnitus from too many rock concerts and these get more than loud enough at even 1/2 volume.... so just ignore the deaf people complaining they aren't loud enough, unless you already have serious hearing loss it should not be a problem. As others mention the included storage case (which looks like a weird little tupperware thing isn't very well thought out, the lid doesn't lock tightly in place and seems bigger than it needs to be.... still, it's nice to have a place to store the headset and charging cable if you are throwing these in a laptop bag, as I do. Took them out on a 90 minute mountain bike loop that I frequently do. With the phone in my pocket I got a few very brief signal dropouts but it did better than I expected considering I am in the middle of nowhere. Relocating my phone to the top of my Deuter Speedlite bag I wear while riding will almost definitely eliminate any audio drops. The ear pieces are a bit big and heavy but that has the unexpected advantage of making it easier to remove/insert them if I need to take an ear out to listen for other trail traffic. I do wish that in addition to the numerous little cord loop management pieces Jaybird included they also included one that allowed you to clip the back of the cord to your shirt. I almost lost these a couple of times when I was ducking under brush... I ended up re positioning them under my helmet straps so even if they popped out they couldn't really go anywhere. Sound quality was more than good enough for exercising, better than I'm used to really. Microphonics, which is the "cord noise" you get with headset cords rubbing on your clothing was pretty minimal, which is a good thing. Battery life very good, even after my ride the battery indication on my phone showed they still had about 90% or so power left, which is as much as I could ever expect. Made a couple of test phone calls and people said that while the audio quality wasn't great, they could understand me. I did experience a bit of discomfort over the 90 minutes on my left ear only. Not sure why, but perhaps that ear is shaped slightly differently than the other one... I might have to keep experimenting with the fit kit parts to see if I can come up with something that works better on that side. All in all, there's really not too much to complain about. The ear pieces could be just a bit smaller and lighter which might eliminate the need for the ear fins to keep them in. I can't complain about the price considering I only paid $84. I can't quite give them a full five stars but I can say that they absolutely deserve four stars. Bottom line, l recommend them as long as they fit you properly.

Microphone damaged after 2 months, side closer to the controllers dead after 9 months of normal use
UPDATE: Credit where credit is due. I have contacted Jaybird, they've replaced my damaged X2 for a pair of Freedom. Meanwhile I had already bought a pair of X3s (much better comply eartips, and after some tunning in the app it really shines, also the ability to reverse the left and right channels is very useful since I use it over ear, the carrying pouch also very nice). Just get the X3s... they are awesome. Jaybird X2 Sport Wireless Bluetooth Headphones - Storm White I really wish to like it, but facts are facts. - Comply foam is garbage if a pair lasts more than 5 uses you're lucky (see photo), they broke really in 5 uses or less. The silicon ones are good, but as you sweat you'll start losing the fit; - The mic was never good to begin with, really poor quality, after 2 months it died, just distortion and harsh noises on the other end; - The picture does not show it, but one time I stored the earphones on a side pocket of my travel toilet bag, the white plastic somehow got a permanent tint, the white has a dirt red tint; - Yesterday after 9 months and 5 days since I've bought it (keep in mind it took more than a month to the first use, so 8 months is more correct) the sound is gone on one of the sides, there's nothing I can do about it; - Followed the manual, always used over the ears, absolutely normal use, no water damage, not even excessive sweating; - The second star goes because if you manage a tight fit these sound great as far as bluetooth headphones are concerned, the connection quality was good enough too; - Overal very disapointed, I've built my running/coaching program around my smartwatch and the X2s...

Amazing product, one major design flaw.
***UPDATE 2: blew through a 2nd set in about 3 days. Same problem: sweat entering the control area. That is during normal use, and I am very careful with these (I don't fiddle with buttons when they are sweaty, just put them on, leave them in place, and put them carefully out to dry afterwards). My takeaway for the Jaybird X2: phenomenal bluetooth earbud. Great sound. Great fit if you're willing to spend a few minutes getting them set up (which, if you're buying $150 earbuds, you should). One really unfortunate design decision though (they aren't workout-proof) means I give them 2 stars. If Jaybird didn't make such a huge point of marketing these as workout-friendly and sweatproof, I wouldn't be such a pissed off customer. I still love these for wearing around but I had to get other buds for working out, and the hassle of getting two replacement pairs of X2's left a sour taste for me. ***UPDATE: After some back and forth with Jaybird, it seems like the failure point in these earbuds in the microphone hole. If you wear these in the "over the ear" style, the mic hole sits against the side/back of your head, which for most people is a place sweat will be dripping during intense workouts (definitely is for me). The mic hole is not sweatproof. Get water in there and these will short - sound like a design flaw to you? Yeah, it definitely is. I'm guessing when Jaybird was designing these, they found it didn't cost much extra to build in a mic hole, so they followed the "adding another feature has to be a good thing" mentality. Unfortunately, this introduced a major reliability issue into the design, all so that users could make calls / use Siri when using these headphones (as if that is a big draw for people looking for the most durable, sweatproof earbuds). Thankfully, you can seal up the mic hole with a drop of super glue. Still great earbuds, but this is a bummer design flaw. *** EDIT: everything I said below is still true (they stay in, sound is good), but mine failed after 3-4 runs. They won't turn on, won't recognize charger, etc. I was super careful with them (put them right in the case when done, didn't manhandle them when wearing them, used approved charger, let them dry after use, etc etc), but they still died. A quick google suggests that this is a somewhat common issue. I'm guessing Jaybird will replace them, but it still really sucks. Darn. *** These work great. I'm coming from using the Ironman earbuds for a long time, and I've used a bunch of other sports earbuds too. I run 5-8 miles a day, and sweat a lot. I was skeptical about spending $150 on running earbuds, but these are worth it. They do stay in really well, even when running while super sweaty. Sound quality is good, and they are comfortable for me (I did play around with different combos of ear fin and tips). They do have the same issue that basically every earbud has, which is that if a drop of sweat gets in contact with the diaphram or blocks the sound canal, then sound from that bud is almost fully muted. This does suck, but it's not overly pronounced with the X2's, and it happens with basically every bud I've tried once it gets sweaty enough. If you're looking for awesome quality running earbuds, I totally recommend these. They legit stay in (a huge concern for me), and the sound is solid. Charging and battery life seem fine time-wise, and construction and product design are good as well.

Comparable to my Shure215SEs
I just received these, so I have no comment yet on Jaybird X2 longevity. But judging from the build quality I don't doubt that these should last. Instead of comparing these to any other bluetooth set of earbuds, I will compare these with my wired Shure 215SEs... yes, these are that good. I will spare all the info about the packaging, case, what's-in-the-box blah blah blah... Let's talk about sound. I had some expectation of decent sound after thoroughly researching these online. Whoever says these don't pump out bass, well they're probably shills for some other brand. These things sound nearly as good as my Shures - in balanced audio profile and clarity. For me, I dont care what other features or qualities are advertised by earbuds if they do not sound good - it would be an absolute dealbreaker. I tested these in the gym for the first time today for about an hour and a half. It's hardly worth mentioning but I did notice that the Shures are just a hair cleaner sounding - not surprising since they are wired. The fit was great and I did not have to fiddle with them at all during my run. A pleasant surprise to me was that these actually had a better soundstage than the Shures (!) - they had a bit of a "wetter" sound, for some peopel this may be a minus but I think for casual listening it shouldn't be an issue. Another surprise was that these actually played louder than the Shures (although that should not really be a surprise because these technically have their own power supply). However, there was one slight downside - as I amped the volume louder, there was a bit of compression or equalization at the upper end of the volume - whereas the Shures pump loudly and evenly all the way through the maximum volume (also not surprising since the Shures are studio monitors). you have a variety of options in how to wear these, whatever is most comfortable to the individual. For me, I opted for the over the ear fit - I'm used to wearing my Shures like so, but the reason I think this is the best way is due to the rubberized strap. Letting them flop around behind my head is annoying - tightening them to the back of my head (while wearing the earbuds in the standard way) causes the strap to catch whenever I turned my head, therefore pulling the earbud out of place. Over the ear and tightened around the back of the head made them rock steady and completely stable. Highly recommend

Great headphones!
I was quite concerned about ordering these once I had decided that I wanted them. The recent reviews that indicated that they were receiving fake or counterfeit products, even when ordered directly from amazon and not a third party provider almost scared me off. I even contacted amazon Customer Service to see if they were aware of the issue and if they had cleared their stock from these counterfeits. I got the usual CS blabla and eventually decided to just take the plunge as I really wanted the X2s (why?, I'll explain below). Well, I received them with free same-day shipping and immediately unboxed the headphones to check for the indicators people had posted here to verify they were originals. They were - and was I happy about that purchase! The headphones really sound amazing. Very balanced (I only used them with the foam earpieces yet) and with amazing clarity. I just cannot believe that they are using BT as a protocol as I was never impressed with the sound quality of BT. Well, so far at least. I wanted these headphones for running mainly. They are lightweight enough to not pull on you, the remote is not noticeable in respect to added weight on the right side and they have withstood my severe sweating without a hitch. I consider these the perfect runner's headphones that do care about high fidelity while exercising. Why did I not get the latest Jaybird Freedom F5 or wait for the X3? The Freedom seem like a great pair of headphones but not quite great for running due to the heavy right side as the remote (even without that ridiculous battery pack attached) seems to be very heavy compared to the X2. I did not want to have to fiddle with my right headphone during runs, so that was out. The X3s seem to be vaporware at this point as there is no official release date and all rumored dates have been coming and going without any reliable news. Even if they would come out at the end of this month, it would be a new product with possible teething problems and I don't like to be a beta tester AND pay the full price of $150. I don't think that a great pair of headphones needs that equalizer feature of the Freedom. If they are HiFi headphones then there is no need to adjust anything, right? At least that's my point of view and what I have heard through the X2s so far, proved me right.

Great for Audiobooks
I had some Jaybird BlueBuds back in 2015 that lasted ~2 years. Great earphones; Great battery, great range, great sound quality. These X2s look the same, same battery life, good range, have a wider variety of earbud-options, are much cheaper... but the sound quality isn't as good. Especially for music. Somewhat choppy. Could be the device I'm pairing them to potentially. When I get a chance to try them with something else I may update this review. Regardless I'm mostly happy with them.

They are fantastic and I understand why they were voted best all ...
I've had these for just under a week now and used them a few times at the gym. They are fantastic and I understand why they were voted best all around wireless earphones last year (before x3) sound is crisp and the buds fit nicely in ear. A few small gripes are that they get loud enough to not hear about 95% of the gym atmosphere but when that one song comes on that needs to be at 11 they don't really have that over a corded earphone (to be honest it's a very minor thing). 2nd minor issue is when your a bit sweaty the cord wants to sort of stick to your neck and thus the ear buds sort of come out of the ear. The easy fix is to wear these over the ear instead of traditional.

Will not fit in ears, crappy audio quality
Where to start! First of all, these earbuds are so gigantic you can't even get them to seal off in your ears properly because the chunky plastic is in the way. Did the designers think ear canals go into your head completely perpendicular at 90 degrees? If you manage to jam them in to your ears they hurt pretty bad because you need to use oversized plugs to get them to wedge in there. Even if you get them to seal off (I did by putting it at a very weird angle that wouldn't last long) they sound TERRIBLE! No bass at all, tin-ee sounding. My 15 dollar sony earbuds sound 5x better. I returned these almost immediately after getting them.
