Great alternative to plastic pods for Iperespresso machine
I have the Y3 Iperespresso machine from Illy, which is basic but makes excellent espresso. I also have a subscription from Illy for the capsules, because that offers a discount, free shipping, AND free recycling of the pods. I still hate to see the huge pile of pods being used and tossed (well, recycled, but still), and wanted to find a better less wasteful option. This Capsulone metal capsule works in my machine, and makes a good cup of coffee. I have used ground Illy coffee with it, but love the versatility of being able to choose the kind of coffee I use, and grind the beans myself. Now I spread out the subscription orders and use the Capsulone in between shipments. I'll probably phase out the sub eventually, when I perfect the technique with the Capsulone. It comes with instructions, and I recommend following them. How much you fill it and compress the coffee is key. If it's not right, wacky things can happen - once the machine wouldn't stop until the water tank was empty, spilling coffee all over my counter/floor. Keep an eye on it until you get it right, just in case. When it's right, it makes a proper espresso, crema and all. Others mentioned the tiny metal screen filter - yes, be careful when you dump out used grounds, as the filter can come out with it. I haven't accidentally thrown it out (yet), but I see how it can happen. Might be a good idea for Capsulone to include a 2nd filter in the box. I recommend this item for anyone who has the Y3 Iperespresso but wants to use their own coffee instead of Illy's plastic pods.

Excellent
If you don't want to throw away illy pods daily these refillable pods are the only ones that work! I have four to have extra for guests.Great seal, excellent taste, easy to fill. Fits perfectly.Easy to clean just don't throw away the little filter at the bottom of the pod.Excellent 👏 🎉 👏

Works as expected
I hate using plastic pods as it seems like such a waste so tried this. I’m very happy with it. I was disappointed that the tamp shown isn’t included but two scoops of espresso ~8grams fit w a bit of tamping with back of scoop seems to be my magic trick. I’ve only needed one shot at a time but would suggest a second one as the capsule is too hot to clean even with my teflon fingers. It would be great to find more of the micro screens preemptively.

works perfectly in my Illy machine
I have the cheaper Illy machine, the one that looks like it was designed as a prop for a sci fi movie in the 1950's, and these (I have two so far) work perfectly in it.Just tamp the espresso powder down, insert it, and push the button. The machine can't tell the difference. It runs exactly the way it does with a plastic capsule and shuts off automatically. The result is just what you'd get from an official capsule, too, complete with a layer of frothy 'crema' on top.No tamper comes with this, so you can either buy one separately, or THE LID CAN BE USED AS A TAMPER. Just fill the cup to the top with espresso powder, level it off, and push the lid down. That will compact the coffee perfectly. It took me a while to figure this out, because I can be an idiot. You have to spend a few seconds cleaning these afterward. I scrape out as much of the powder as I can, then put them in the dishwasher. They'll either sit in the silverware holder or, if you have a machine with the third shelf, the shallow one at the very top, you can put them there. It's a little more effort than the throw-away cups, but well worth it. Cheaper coffee, just as delicious, and no more plastic waste.ETA: The only downside to them is that everyone who says the reusable metal filter is easily lost or damaged is absolutely right. Especially in the beginning. You're going to need a pack of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BTH439G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Replacements can be found on Ebay, too

Doesn't really make expresso
Did not come with a filter, as noted in the discription, works without it but not really comparable to an actual expresso shot. Is there a specific amount I should be using to make...

Easy to use and clean
Purchased to fill and reuse in my Illy espresso machine. Works great, no grounds get through, and still provides great taste.

don’t bother
Don’t really work unless everything is just perfect, and often get stuck making them close to impossible to use on a daily basis.

Five star
Well designed capsule and it does make a great espresso. Those who say that it won’t make espresso do not put the right amount in it. I used the small scoop this came with. One capsule takes two slightly mounded of this small scoop size. You need to tap it down (no need to press it hard) and the top will fit on tight but just right. Great design, high quality, double walled and seals well. My machine makes the same high pressure sound when I put this amount of coffee in it as if I used the illy iperpresso capsule. I do get a good creama. Makes a great espresso. Two more tips: if the water rushes through too easily without the high bar pressure sound that means either your coffee is ground too large or you need a little more coffee in the capsule to fill air gaps.I highly recommend this capsule. You are free to use your own coffee this way, decaff or half caf, cost less than iperpresso, and no more trashing empty capsules if you are environment conscious like I am.
