Concerned about possible tampering

The gift card arrived today in a package that was in good condition. However, the actual card had a portion torn off in the back, revealing the serial number. I looked online to see if it had been redeemed; it hasn't been used. After the recipient receives it, I am going to check back with her to find out if she was able to use it. This has never happened on my previous gift card orders. Here's hoping it all turns out OK.
