Ornament(装飾)の世界ということで、壁画、タペストリー、絨毯など室内装飾の図案を豊富に収録した本です。この本は普及版なのでA5サイズ、ちょっと小さくて残念ですが、800ページ強の分厚さはそんな欠点も補ってくれます。世界各地の図柄を紹介していますが、主要パートは18世紀までのヨーロッパの装飾柄です。フルカラーの図と英語・ドイツ語・フランス語の解説付き。 絵のサイズが小さいとか思うところはありますが、この値段でこの情報量ならおつりがくるでしょう。デザインに興味のある方はもちろん、模様の資料としても使えると思います。なお、同じ内容で大型本のバージョンもありますので、大画面で見たい方はそちらをどうぞ。

amazing source on ornament
great little bible on ornament designs from different cultures. If you're familiar with Owen Jones' Grammar of Ornament, this book goes well beyond in the scope of art that is included. Invaluable reference source.
