The Best Omega, Yet
Outstanding. This is my 3rd Omega juicer. The first one I had for nearly 15 years. Eventually, I upgraded, although the juicer still worked, it was ready for retirement, and I wanted a newer model. I bought an Omega similar to this one (sorry, I can't remember the model number), but the chute was smaller. Amazing machine. Loved it. But I completely trashed it through no fault of the machines -- a long complicated story, involving a move, not paying attention, and some strange once in a lifetime variables. After two years, I trashed my beloved second Omega, that I used for everything, including wheatgrass. As I had a lot of life changes going on, I picked up a much less expensive Breville to get me through for a while. Was not happy. Although it did give me "juice," the amount of waste in the pulp was painful to see, and I'm not one to spend the time to re-juice pulp. It's a messy, time consuming process. I gifted much of the pulp to friends for compost (I don't have a composter set up, yet), and could use some pulp for soup bases, raw crackers, etc., but I wanted more JUICE, less waste. The cheap Breville lasted me less than two years, and then it busted. I stepped up to the plate and bought this Omega. The best Omega I've owned yet. Love, love, love the larger chute. Yes, it's slow, but the pulp is nice and dry, and I know that it's extracted as much juice as possible. For those who don't like using the masticating juicer for softer items (e.g., apples, cucumbers), there's an old juicing trick that holds true for anything softer: just put in a few softer items, and then the really hard fibrous greens or roots (beets, carrots, sweet potato) or celery. Mix up hard and soft items, alternate, and everything will go through fine. Machine clean-up takes a minute. While a masticating juicer does take longer to juice than a faster machine, the clean-up is much quicker and easier. And the larger chute is wonderful -- still some chopping of some things required, but the trade-off is a fully extracted juice with as little waste as possible. I adore this machine. In a strange way, I feel no regrets about the second machine being accidentally trashed, because I would have used it for fifteen years, and this machine was worth the wait, with its larger chute, increased efficiency, and better juice and pulp holders. Well worth the wait. Highest recommendations. p.s. Over the years, I've dealt with Omega customer service many times, and they have always been fantastic. Another reason I'm a loyal Omega customer.

Juicing newbie?
If you've been juicing for a long time, this review may not help you all that much. This is my first foray into this arena, so if you're new or would like to hear from someone with a fresh set of eyes--here goes. I spent quite a few hours reviewing all of the juicer choices on the market. I read Wirecutter, tons of Amazon reviews, as well as reviews on Williams-Sonoma and BB&Beyond. I had 3 primary criteria: 1) ease in cleaning; 2) noise level; and 3) how "clear" the resulting juice would be (I was going for a relatively pulp free juice product). I was still unsure, so I ended up buying two juicers. The first was the Novis. I was attracted to its overall look, its Swiss engineering (with resulting quiet operation) and fairly condensed foot print. However, when trying to operate it, I'm not sure I got exactly how it was supposed to work--and didn't like what came out and to me at least, I made a mess. Please note: I completely own the possibility of possible user error. (Like I said, as a newbie to this arena--heck if I know how to do any of this stuff.) The other juicer I bought was this one--the NC900HDC. And--I have now used it I guess 7 times. Here's what I've found: 1) The juicer is very quiet. You could literally be having a conversation with someone and turn it on, and not have to raise your voice. So it passed that test with flying colors. Plus--it didn't result in my timid dog running out of the room crying like she did when I tried out the Vitamix blender. 2) Ease in cleaning--not bad. Of course, I'm at a loss for comparables but it takes me maybe a minute to disassemble and put the pertinent parts on the top shelf of the dishwasher that I then set to rinse or the light load setting and turn on. That's it. I who detest mess and lack sufficient time or patience to mess with having to clean something up (especially in the mornings) cannot believe that this is what a lot of juicers are complaining about with their machines. So I have to conclude that this is one of its selling points in the market. 3) Clarity of juice/lack of pulp--well, there's some in it, but not enough to bother me in the least bit--so it passes on that front as well. A couple of extra points for anyone who may still be reading: 1) A lot of reviewers complain that many of the parts are easily broken. To me--everything looks quite solid but then again it's a brand new machine so that's what I'd expect. But I honestly can't figure out what would break on the thing. I promise to update this review if and when something breaks. 2) In terms of processing time, yes--you will have to (depending on what you're putting through the machine) on occasion use the pusher thing to force things to go down, but that's a no big deal deal for me. Maybe it would irritate me if I'd previously owned a machine that grabbed whatever I put in it and spit out a bunch of juice but I mean--you're standing there loading the machine anyway--so the way I look at it, it occasionally gives me something to do. If this isn't the ultimate example of a true first world problem, I can't imagine what is. I'll close with the recipe I've put together so you can see the wide variety of textures and density of food items it works great with: Green Beet Juice 2 apples, sliced and cored 1 fairly long cucumber 2 C celery (in 3-4 inch pieces) 16 or so baby carrots 2 limes cut in quarters (with peel and seeds) 3-4 C combo baby chard, kale and spinach 3-4 beets (I peel the fresh beets but have found organic beets at Costco that are cooked and peeled and have used those as well; I wish they were raw really--but the peeling process is a bit of a bxxxch--it leaves red everywhere.) This yields 4 cups/serivings. I put this in as a recipe on my Fitness Pal and it comes to 110 calories per serving. (One final note: Depending on the kind of apples you use, and your basic sense of taste, a couple of times I stirred in a packet of stevia, which while making it sweeter, also seems to make the flavors overall come out a little more distinctly. Of course, this could all be in my mind, and to any all-natural, raw food juice police out there--please forgive me. I've also mixed it in with some stevia-sweetened ginger beer for what I've got to say was a terrifically refreshing and delicious drink.)

Way better then my Breville!
We use this juicer for celery juice or wheatgrass juice. (Most powerful elixirs on the planet!) The Omega creates almost 30% more juice then my Breville high speed juicer. It takes slightly longer, but it's well worth it. Celery juice first thing in the morning pretty much guarantees that your day is going to be the best day of your life. It's crazy alkalizing and puts you into zen blissfulness. Wheatgrass juice helps you detox from flouride (which causes acne and skin problems) in addition to the other health benefits. Needless to say, this juicer makes it easy to create both juices. Super easy to clean, too. That's always an important facet. I simply spray a few pieces with hot water and I'm set. Then run them in the dishwasher once a week for a deeper clean. If you live in a city with hard water, you'll probably need to run in the dishwasher daily. Another thing I like is the juice seems much greener and denser. Seems like it's more nutritious. I did a thorough review of all juicers on the market, and then reviewed the Omega line. This type of juicer creates the least amount of heat, so it's less damaging to the veggies. And it came in as number one for best consumer reviews. I chose the NC900HDC model because it's heavy duty, has a bigger chute thing at the top, and the parts are BPA free. Juice recipes: Celery and nothing else - best possible juice you can make. Great for detox, cleansing, organ movement, stomach acid, and hydration. (Thanks for the tip Anthony Williams) Celery, cucumber, and kale stems - great for a morning wake me up and ultra hydration and nourishment. I think kale is highly nutritious, but it's important to eat the fiber too. So if you save the stems and eat the leaves, the stems come in handy for juicing! Wheatgrass shots - sort of like an expresso shot. It packs a punch and will detox you from fluoride and metals. It's powerful, so maybe start with half a shot. Optional: add a lemon and/or lime for citrus love, to kill bacteria, and for extra hydration. (Bacterium hates citrus!!) Additional tips: Absolutely get a small strainer (see photo). You want the juice to be as bioavailable as possible without activating your digestive system. It's night and day. Without a strainer, I could drink maybe 8-12oz at a time. With a strainer, I can pound 24oz on an empty stomach. When cleaning, push the catcher bin under the juicer to catch dripping juice and save yourself a paper towel. Do this while you drink and clean up. See photo Update April 2019: I've juiced every single morning since I've bought this. I'll never go back. Daily wake up at 2:45, drink juice by 3am, then meditate with a belly full of bliss.. then start my day! Stress and anxiety can't touch me! (Side note, what are people juicing to break their screens? I've had zero problems with any of my parts since day one and I use daily.. sometimes 2-3x a day too.)

Worth the money!!!
Heavy duty appliance. Components feel sturdy. Super easy to wash! I tried Oster Jus Simple 2-speed juicer $67 and Omega $303 absolutely wins! The Oster was so sharp and loud I was afraid of waking up my 4 year old. With the Oster, my son likes to put the items in the juicer but he would tell me to muffle his ears because it was so loud. (He doesn't like loud rushing water from the bathtub as a comparison to the loud Oster.) The Omega had a quiet motor sound like slow grinding sound. It can be white noise if needed. It's very soothing. My son has no problem with the sound of the OMEGA. After 2 weeks of use, the pulp is still dry to the touch compared to the Oster Jus Simple 2-speed. The Oster machine produced wetter pulp after 2 weeks of use. Back to OMEGS- No dull blades to worry about because there isn't ANY to worry about. SCORE!!! Way less foam than the Oster. Cleaning- I just rinse with water and everything flows off. There is no sharp metal to freak over about. LOVE IT!!! The metal strainer needs more sponge rubbing but it's like a quick swish swish swish and the pulp comes out easily. Like I said no metal blades to worry about. No odd corners on the plastic ware where the pulp gets trapped under. The mastication spiral thingy is like a Hercules Chomper. I am beyond satisfied with this machine. Easy sponge cleaning on the base. It's like gliding a microfiber cloth along a Rolls-Royce. I don't know if that is a right analogy of how you would feel but it was mine review. It just feels nice to wipe the Omega. It took me 15 minutes to wash the Oster components because the pulp got stuck in between the plastic seal and the metal blades kept on getting plugged up with fiber and 6-7 minutes to wash 6 pieces from Omega. I haven't tried the pasta or food processor pieces yet. But I am sure this is a keeper. I love it so much. I use the pulp to make meatloaf. I actually enjoy cleaning the Omega. I seriously love the ease of cleaning. Also, as long as the veggies can fall in the shoot easily it will crush it. I enjoy the sound of the crunch when the masticator is doing it's job. My 4 year old son loves making juices. He doesn't drink it but one day he will. I want everyone to get the Omega NC900HDC!!! It's worth $400! It's a Juicer, Food Processor, meat grinder, Pasta Maker. Way worth more than it is sold. I bought it during Christmas sale. THANK YOU, OMEGA NC900HDC!!! My apologies for my rambling. Best of Luck on finding your own Juicer. I found mine.

This is literally the MOST quietest juicer I ever used
After watching Fat Sick and Nearly Dead the documentary, I've made it a mission to talk about healthy eating and the power of juicing and cleansing your body of the toxins it's accumulated over the years and I've learned over the years that your tools can make a world of difference. The juicer can play a tremendous part and this cold press juicer will extract as much juice as humanly possible from whatever fruit or vegetable you will insert into it. If you use a cold press then it will not heat the juice up therefore having it lose some of it's nutrients. I used a relative inexpensive Hamilton Beach juicer before and this thing literally double the juice I get out of it it seems. Juicing is the best way to cleanse your body and reset your digestive tract by giving it a break. When you don't eat solids there's not much work for your stomach to do so it takes a break. Fruits are for cleansing and Vegetables are more regenerative. This juicer is pricey but it's well worth it. Juicing must become a lifestyle after a life of not eating healthy, this must be incorporated into everything in your life. ***UPDATE*** I have to reduce this by one star. I noticed that when items like blueberries and strawberries get juiced they end up more mushy than anything.. And it's difficult to strain..

hands down better than centrifugal!
Last year I bought a nicely priced centrifugal juicer, and discovered the wonders of fresh juice. I loved my juicer. it was quick, easy to use, easy to clean. except.....i kept getting great huge chunks of veggies that didn't get juiced, no matter how many times i tried to run them thru. and the tomatoes? finally i had to use cheesecloth to squeeze the last few cups of juice that were previously ending up in the garbage. Just got this juicer. wow. I make big batches of juice and freeze immediately, so i can have juice for many days without the prep and cleanup. and you know what? i don't care one bit that i have to stop every 20 to 30 minutes to let it cool off. that's when i clean the parts. i have plenty of time (retired). what really amazes me is that i am getting 1/3 to 1/2 as much MORE juice with this juicer! and it's practically foam free! Soooo much more economical and more juice to slurp every day! and more delicious juice it is! so yeah, i'm a fan. a BIG fan. this was a good start for masticating juice and i expect this well made product to last quite a while, according to most of the reviews. we'll see. sorry about the lack of capitals. having a keyboard issue. happy juicing!

Great Juicer, but depends on how much and how often you juice
This was the first juicer I ever purchased, so I was new to juicing when I picked this up. Since then, about a year ago, I have been juicing almost every day. It's a really amazing lifestyle. If you are on the fence regarding juicing, I'd say just take the plunge and do it. Every time I make a juice I get a great sense of doing something amazing for my health. After 1 year of using this juicer, here is what I'd say to someone else looking to buy this (or something similar) as their first juicer. First, I have no real complaints. So, don't look at any of these as big negatives. They are just things to consider. The main thing is juicing speed. Some people want slow juicers since they squeeze more nutrition out of your plants. But, there is a cost of time. If you are just making small to medium juices, then no big deal. But, If you are making lots of juice, this could become more time consuming than you would like. For instance, I make a kale/lemon/cucumber/celery based juice every day, but it's a really large juice. It was 32oz, but I use a bigger cup now, so its probably around 35-40oz. That's a big batch and it takes me around 20 mins to do everything (pull produce out of fridge, wash vegetables, juice everything, then clean everything when done). If I was to replace this juicer with something else, I'd probably do some comparisons with juicers that juice faster. Even if I get a little less juice, if its faster and easier I'd probably go with that due to making large juices. Again, I'm making a large juice on a daily basis, so that is something to consider. It's also a bit of a pain to have to use the hand tool to push the produce down the shoot. It would be nicer if gravity just pulled everything in. Then you just dump your vege's into the shoot and there is little more to do. With this juicer, you will be guiding your plants into the juicer using the tool, quite often. Most of the time I have to do this. Not a huge thing, but I'd much rather not have to do it. Some foods like cucumber and apples, get alot of pulp that backs up. It's easy to deal with as you just need to combine different foods to get it all to go down. But, it's something to keep in mind. It won't juice lots of oranges/apples at once without some of that pulp backing up a bit. Again, you just mix some other items with it and it's not an issue. I've also noticed small items like small leaf romaine (the kind you buy in the plastic containers), because they are so small they don't always get juiced. There is probably a way around this (by combining with other vege's), but I haven't experimented too much. When I received my juicer, the main cup that holds the juice was broken. So, I never used it and just use the one that catches the pulp as my juice container (which I fill to the top). I don't really blame the juicer for this, sometimes this can happen when items are shipped. No big deal. I've never used another juicer, so I don't have anything to really compare this to. Overall, it's a really good juicer. I have no complaints. Just think about how often and how large your juices will be. Other juicers may be faster and easier to make large juices which is something to consider.
