I can't wait to use it
I just received the HANMATEK Digital Display Soldering Iron Station last night and this morning I wanted to test it before re-boxing it and handing it to my wife to wrap for me under the Christmas tree.Note that I purchased the SD-2 model with the digital display.I always like to be specific on these reviews because I've seen reviews on Amazon connected to the wrong item.It came packaged really well and no parts were cracked or broken. The parts are mostly metal and changing the tips is really easy. It also stays in the built in holder just fine, so there is no need for a soldering iron holder.Connect the iron to the station before turning on the unit because the metal prongs are high voltage.I've never had a multi temp station so I didn't know what to expect, and the instruction manual (6 pages) is a little misleading. It says to tin the iron with the temperature set at 200-260℉, but the iron starts at 392℉ and runs to 896℉. I thought it may be defective so I checked Amazon and it's correct, so don't fall into the same instruction manual trap I did. The station temperature is OK.I fired it up and it came up to temperature really fast. Faster then my old Radio Shack direct plug-in iron.I tried setting it up to 600℉, and within 5 seconds it came up to temperature. By the way, nothing beeps or flashes as the manual says either when it hits temperature. They need to change the manual to reflect what is really going on.That's as far as I'm allowed to go before Christmas. I'll update this review when I get to use it, but for now I wanted to give it a good review because it works as advertised, and mention the instruction manual.

Great Overal Soldering Iron
I've had this solder station for a couple of years now and it has been a godsend. The tips it came with didn't last a super long time, even with cleaning every couple of solder joints and before and after use. But this station made building guitar pedals and working on electric guitars much easier. I don't have to worry about where I'm setting down a hot iron that plugs directly into the wall or worrying that the cheap metal stand those come with are going to get knocked over. The iron has a home in the station and the cord is long enough that the station stays out of the way. Love this station and will likely use it till it wont work any more.

Heats up, melts solder
Arrived intact and was well packaged. Purchased to replace a 45-year old Weller benchtop unit; this solder station is not that type of quality. Make no mistake, this is an inexpensively made product that is typical from its country of origin. Having worked multiple decades in consumer electronics manufacturing sites in Shenzhen, Guangdong, Zhuhai and other similar locations, I recognize the product for what it is. Looks great on the outside, but who knows what's on the inside. That said, it heats quickly, melts the solder and does the trick. The docking sleeve is a bit sloppy, the digital readout is kinda over-sensitive, and the cord for the wand is slightly stiffer than you'd ideally want, but it all works. I can recommend it so far after only using a short time since it seems to function just fine. I'll update after a few months. I will say this; if you're looking for Weller-type quality and the feel of solid, well-made equipment, this may not be your first choice of gear.

Cheap, poorly made and flimsy unit. Avoid!!!
I have been meaning to write this review for some time. It does what it is supposed to do, and the heat control seems to work ok (I can’t speak for actual accuracy) but that is as far as I can go. Quality wise it is garbage. The pen is super cheap, the plastic threads that secure the tip to the body stripped within 6 months after only a handful of uses (i am a hobiest). The power cord separated from the plug within 6 months as well, and the entire thing just feels cheaply made. I would not recommend this unit to anyone at any price.

Made me not hate soldering.
Feels cheap, works like something much more expensive.Solder holder is a bit weird to me, but it is optional and I will probably just leave it off.Temperature control is sooooo nice, it takes me a few moments to dial it in and then it is golden. Made my dislike for soldering almost completely disappear.Heats up crazy fast, I mean scarry crazy fast, so no more waiting for it to warm up, allowing you to rethink of you really want to do some work or not. By the time you flip the switch and grab your supplies it is ready to go. It takes longer to cool down than to heat up.The assortment of tips is nice, but I have only used two, and the one that comes installed has been fine for almost everything. It kinda hurts to write this review, since it took me forever to just take this out of the saved for later pile and buy it. It is one of my better purchases in a while. The son even gave me heck for waiting, and he loves it as well.Don't buy a cheap wand or gun style iron with one measly setting - on, spend the extra few dollars and buy this cheap station and be so incredibly happy you did.

Soldar
