A+++++++++++ product and customer support.
I have no association with Betterley, but I'll vouch for this product due to its exceptionally high quality almost to a point of "Object d' Art". The throat-plate is CNC'ed from a solid block of aluminum. It is a precision product that feels both heavy and solid. The design is also very well thought out with a permanent throat-plate attached to the saw, and the inserts (which are readily available) for all the different saw blades you own. The level adjusting screws used are not the flimsy types as the rest of the ZCI in the market. These are machined screws with non-permanent Loctite applied. It will never strip or loosen up.The spring ball retention feature is another well thought out feature. The tension is just right and in conjunction with the levelling feature, it wont get dislodge by itself, but yet not so tight as to impede removing it when necessary.Although the plate has a cut-out for riving knife, but it is NOT cut through and depending on the position of the saw height it might impede the riving knife. I solved that problem by using a metal cutting blade on the saw by adjusting the fence for the cutting blade exactly to the slot and nip the bit of metal off. The throat-plate is so strong that cutting through the slot does not compromise the precision fitting at all. Perhaps Betterley is being conservative because it did not mention about cutting through the slot for the riving knife in the installation instructions. However, I can assure you that this throat-plate is more than strong enough on the front of the plate to support the cut-through slot on the rear of the plate. Betterley's decision of leaving out the instruction for the riving knife cut-through slot is correct. It left the discretion to the user because sometimes there are applications where you can't use the riving knife.On another note :I ordered a throat-plate with the insert, but added another 2 inserts with the order. However, Betterley must have slipped and left out the 2 additional inserts. I got in touch with them and they made it right. They shipped out a 4-piece insert to me right away in lieu of the 2 piece free of charge. Now, I have a total fo 5 inserts (one came with the plate, and the additional 4 received later). That is a quality company making top-notch quality parts as well as great customer support.

No Dado for DW744x
This is a very well made product, and it will work fine in a Dewalt DW744X provided you do not want to use it for Dado blades. If you try using a Dado it will hit the aluminum closest to the motor.

Smaller boards would sometime hang up on the original insert. The Betterley is adjustable so you can level it perfectly with your saw.

Will Fit DW744x perfectly
Even tho Betterley does not list the DW744x I spoke directly with them 3 years ago when I purchased my original WL-412. We determined that the DW746 and DW744x use the same exact size inserts.I have 2 of the WL-412 inserts. One is setup for regular blade and the other setup for Dado blade.If you want to use the riving knife with either blade setup simply cut the aluminum with a hacksaw blade. I do not see any negative effect and the insert still fits nice and snug.
