I think my handheld sewing machine may have been used because it was already threaded and a patch of fabric had been sewn on and attached to the machine. I own a full size sewing machine and wanted something for simple repairs. This unfortunately will not suffice. It is not very durable. Pieces kept falling off every time I attempted to use it. It is a loud little monster of a machine but it gives a single little stitch that is so flimsy and easy to unravel. It is not very easy to control. It is all over the place. I can't sew a straight hem with many of the materials I tried. It was a hopeless case, I need a drink after trying this product. Based on all these reviews, I am assuming these may be paid reviews, because they cannot be raving about the same product I used. No way!

Very happy with this purchase.. directions were surprisingly easy to follow- nothing extra needed to be purchased. Lightweight and comfortable to handle... and sees a nice strong seam - at an unbelievable price.

DUTISON Handheld Sewing Machine is a great concept but even after watching over 7 YouTube videos I still can't figure out how to use this and complete a project. At first I couldn't figure out how to stop the thread from unravelling after sewing..a few videos later, I realized you had to tie the last ring off or the whole thread would pull right out. Since a normal sewing machine does this for you, I did have a hard time with closing the ring before everything unravelled. I used a few different materials but this won't work with material that is too thin/light or thick/heavy. Perhaps to some this is an easier alternative than bringing out the big sewing machine but to me it was easier to hand sew.

I was excited to order it because my trusted sewing machine stalled. The offer states it comes with 2 extra needles but its actually 1 installed and 1 spare. I asked to see if there is a site to order more but have not received a reply. I suffer carpal tunnel syndrone and thought nothing of it until you have to struggle with the lever to set the fabric in place, not withstanding the needle is set in place to pass it under. Also it's rather noisy and the instructions are just unlabeled photographs but no real guidance as to how to operate or switch stuff out.

The machine broke after about 5 stitches. It got stuck and then I heard a grinding noise and started to smell a bad smell, like it was smoking on the inside. Very frustrating since it was extremely difficult to initially set up. I had to You Tube several videos before understanding how to use it properly. Threading the thread into the needle was difficult even when using the needle threader which was very flimsy. I reordered a new one and am hoping maybe the one I received was just defective. I’m really hoping it works because all I need it for is to add a few stitches to the badges on my daughter’s Girlscout vest which are already ironed on. I’m not doing any difficult sewing so the machine shouldn’t have broken after only a few stitches.

Overall this is a really great sewing kit, that is great to have on hand. It comes with all the accessories needed. It has clear picture instructions that are easy to follow and set up. It works really well and is great for quick go to jobs or repairs. The only down side was some of the accessories felt a little less quality and the spade needle that came with it was rusty. I would say it is good to have on the go, in a pinch or for traveling.

I am always working on my families small fleet of car and trucks. Since I bought this setup with cat claw and fasteners I am always going to the kit to replace the ones I pop out on the cars with fresh new ones. Its seems to have the right ones I need all the time. This is a must have kit.

I was expecting something cheaply made but this blew me away with how cheaply made it is. Complete garbage. First the battery container is too small so when I put AAs in it the case split open. After messing with it for 10 min I was able to get the motor to run. The first few times I ran it it unthreaded itself until I figured out how to get it to stay. The little axel that holds the thread falls off for no reason at all. The stich itself is super loose. This thing is a best a demonstration of how a sewing machine could theoretically work before any R&D. I would return it but its too cheap to be worth the effort. Which is probably how this company makes its money.
