Amazon Basics VGA to VGA PC Computer Monitor Cable, 6 Feet (1.8 Meters), Black

This VGA cable is excellent construction. I am building an 8086 based computer from scratch. To get the project going I am starting with a Hercules compatible monochrome ISA card that has DB 9-pin connector. These are digital signals. I am using a Monotech EternalCRT digital to VGA converter so I can put text on my 23.5 inch LCD widescreen. It works beautifully. I purposely bought this as a long length VGA cable and the image is rock steady. Monitor detects resolution as "720 x 400" input with no sparkling issues on ViewSonic VT-2300 LED. Although the 8086 based project is not yet bootable, I tested this Amazon VGA cable and the Hercules type card by using the ISA slot of a Soyo SY-VCA2 motherboard. The BIOS configuration screen showed perfect rock steady 80 x 25 black and white text and the whole screen was scaled perfectly from corner edge to corner edge. Very pleased.

This is a nice cable and works very well. I wanted to find some cons on this product, but I cannot find anything without stretching a bit. It is a VGA cable which is a technology that is dated but tried and true. The size of the cable is good. I have used some cables which are a bit thicker and real hard to move, and some cables much thinner which flex real nice, but leave the quality of the cable in question when there is no brand on them. The thickness of the VGA cable is commonly due to cost of manufacturing. While there are other methods of moving the signal from one end to the other, the VGA is basically dead so development and investments there makes no sense. Given that, this cable is right up there with the best I have used. The size and flexibility is reasonable and the connector ends allow for a better grip than the squared styles when removing. For a VGA cable, hard to go wrong here.

Works really well and does exactly what it's supposed to do. Not a lot to say about it. Solid construction, quality connectors, works as intended. It was a LOT cheaper than cables of inferior quality and shorter length I found at Wal-Mart. I "believe" this applies to all VGA cables since they operate via analog signals, but in case it doesn't I thought I would point out I was getting a tad of RF interference from mine since my computer sits right beside my CB radio. I was able to eliminate it by basically creating an RF choke in the VGA cable right where it comes out of the computer by wrapping it in tight 2-3 inch circles until it was just long enough to reach between the computer and monitor, and then zip tying the coil in place.

When I went to install the cable I discovered that one of the pins was bent on one of the plugs. This prevented the plug from going in. I was able to straighten the pin out and it went in after that and the cable worked fine. My one complaint about this is similar to others in that the knobs for securing the plugs are smooth. This makes it a little difficult to turn them. If they were knurled they would be easier to turn, and if they had slots in the ends for a screw driver that would address some of the other complaints I read. Other than that this appears to be a top quality cable. I would not hesitate to buy it again. One word of warning to anyone considering buying it. Mine came with only one protective cover on the plugs. I did not notice at the time if the pin was bent. So I recommend that you examine the pins closely as soon as you open the box. I can't say for sure that I didn't bend the pin when I attempted to plug the one end into my monitor, so I can't lay complete blame on the manufacturer for this.

ive been relying on my second monitor a lot more lately now that ive been doing so much more working from home. the vga cable i had was unfortunately just falling apart and making my screen short in and out for no discernible reason. so this was the new one i bought as a replacement. works great so far, solid performance, no shorting out etc. the cord is also nice and thick, which could be good or bad depending on what you need. it's fairly inflexible, so if you're wanting to bend it behind things into tight shapes, it might be less forgiving. but it's certainly sturdy! overall no complaints.

Purchased a new computer only to find I could not complete hookup without this cable which did not come with it. Perfect fit with no issues or problems .

While the cable is of good quality and does the job, it is awkward to install. The male ends of VGA cables come with two screws to securely attach the cable to computer since VGA cables are prone to coming loose. Generally, the handles on the screws are both large enough to grasp and have a slotted end so a screw driver could be used. The handles on this cable are too small and do not have a slotted end. Since monitors typically do not have enough clearance around their connectors (see attached photo), I have to use a screw driver to install a typical VGA cable on a monitor. But since these handles do not have the slot, I had to use needle nosed pliers. While I did not have to use the pliers to attach this cable to the computer, it was difficult to do because the handles are too small. p.s. I purchased the 15' version.
