Somewhere else, it was stated that 1 lb of powder is 3 cups. This means 4 oz is 0.75 cups. You add 1.5X water, so 12 oz would make somewhere between 3.375 cups (3 * .75 * 1.5 water ) and 5.625 cups (water plus solid) depending on how much of the solid dissolves into the water. I don't know the answer to that, someone who has actually done this would have to tell you. It does seem like something the manufacturer would tell you up front, doesn't it?
