The firm side genuinely works on extremely thick hair and I highly recommend it for anyone with that need. The side the brand rates as medium firmness of bristles absolutely does not work on thick hair since the bristles are so soft that they can’t grip the hair and only will skim the surface as they bend too easily. I do suggest you use Amazon AI to give the length of the handle before ordering as I did.

I bought this for my man and he loves it! It’s nice that there’s the two bristle firmness for different hair lengths and it’s small enough to travel with.
