Corelle Livingware 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4, Classic Cafe Red

I love, love, love these dishes! I got this set along with one plain white set (also Corelle) to mix and match for use as everyday dishes. I grew up with Corelle dishes in the 80s. Over my young adult years in apartments I accumulated various partial dish sets given to me by others and I hated how bulky and heavy they were. (Sometimes so heavy that grabbing a few plates in one hand to set the table would strain my wrist- and I am not frail and elderly) I finally decided to get something *I* liked and would truly enjoy using each day. Corelle dishes are great. They stack easily, you can fit a ton of them in cabinet or the dishwasher, and they are very manageable and lightweight, with clean, simple lines. We have been using ours since last summer and not a chip or scratch in sight. My Mom's original set lasted more than ten years with 6 active kids clanging and banging them around, so I expect these will stand the test of time as well. The bowls are the perfect size for cereal and the small plates are good for a sandwich, english muffin or toast. I use the coffee mugs every morning. I have had no quality issues with them at all. I love the red trim on this particular set, it's almost like a 1950s diner look. They mix and match well with my plain white set and they go with the red accents in my kitchen. If you are looking for an everyday dish set that is durable, stackable, lightweight, and has nice clean, classic lines, I think you will really like this set. I know they are "just dishes," but I truly get enjoyment out of using these each day.

I got my first set of Corelle dishes as a wedding present 13 years ago. Out of the 8 plates that I got, only 3 have broken. Never any chips and all the rest of the pieces are intact and still beautiful. I got this set because I went from green to red in my kitchen. I love them. Having been raised on Corelle, I can barely remember any plates breaking. When they do break though, watch out. There will be tiny slivers of glass everywhere, but like I said it rarely ever happens (I drop things a lot) I bough more expensive "nicer" dishes from a store that specializes in fine china, but after 1 year I had broken 1 and all the rest had chips in them. You will never chip a real Corelle piece, it's all or nothing. Side note is that the coffee mugs are pottery and not made from the same material, so they will eventually get chips and break faster than the other pieces. Not a big deal to me because I have more coffee mugs than I can shake a stick at. I read a review complaining about the size of the "salad" plate. Well, the description calls it a bread and butter plate, and if you have been to a semi nice restaurant then you know what a bread plate looks like. The other bad reviews that I read had to do with shipping. There are always going to be shipping errors and breakage. But, this speaks nothing about the dishes them selves. Like I said, the quality is great and they last forever. I am sure that if a box was dropped then the stuff inside would break, that goes without saying. I would recomend this or any Corelle set to anyone out there. While the diches may seem thin at first you will get used to it. And, they will last you years to come.

Amazon must be listenting to customer reviews about broken Corelle--I purchased the 4-pc place setting set, plus 4 salad plates from a different seller--all arrived in perfect condition, sooner than promised and packed like Ft. Knox. To those who feel the "salad" plates in the 4-pc. setting are too small, note that these are really bread-and-butter plates. If I could change one thing about Corelle Livingware, I'd substitute salad plates for the smaller b-and-b's in the 4-pc. sets; I actually serve most casual family meals on the salad plates. These are perfect everyday dishes--attractive, lightweight, durable--and they take just 1/2 the space of my old chipped stoneware in the small cupboards in my '60's rancher. They don't craze or stain like stoneware (most of which is imported from China), and I'll never buy anything else.

Really cute set, perfect for our RV. This seller shipped very quickly and it appears to be packed well (though I haven't pulled out every piece yet). My only complaint is that the coffee cups are not the matching ones pictured (white with red rim), but are solid red instead, and are made of very thick and heavy ceramic, not the thin durable material the rest of the dishes are made of. Not exactly what I wanted - I ordered this set for durability and light weight, and the cute retro look. But overall, it will do the job.

For some reason, Corelle gets black marks that cannot be removed. I use paper plates between them when I store them but still get the marks mostly on the cups. I still like them anyway because they are light weight and do not take up much room in the cupboard. Many patterns also.

Ich habe das Geschirr fürs Camping gekauft. Die Teller und die Schüsseln sind sehr leicht und äußerst stabil. Bisher ist noch nichts zerbrochen. Die Häferl sind normales Porzellan und daher recht schwer, aber passen auch gut. Insgesamt bin ich sehr zufrieden, einen Stern Abzug gebe ich, weil die Dessertteller und Schüsseln sehr klein sind.

Just the best Dinner Set ever !

This is great for using in the motorhome. Lightweight and durable ... and nicer than plastic.
