Is a microscope needed for any of the experiments?

No. All the experiments are based on the components included and other easily attainable items.

Does anybody know of a Chemistry kit for young adults that is of good quality and that comes with all the equipment and chemicals?

This is an excellent set for just about any age in my opinion.

Is there a good storage solution out there for this kit?

The kit doesn't contain anything requiring special storage. The styrofoam the kit ships in is probably the best. Keep it out of reach of unsupervised children.

Does this item contain anything that would not allow it to be in your checked luggage on an airplane?

Ultimately, the CHEM C2000 (v2.0) does contain small quantities of materials which are classified as hazardous. However because the hazmat are in small quantities, the kits comply with 49 CFR 173.4 and therefore receive a "Small Quantity Exception" for domestic transportation. Additionally, there is a Small Quantity Exception for Air Transportation, 49 CFR 173.4a, which is approved by UPS here and FedEx (page 8). The small quantity exemption would still require additional labeling for air transport (see below), but no shipping papers or other hazard labels would be required.
