Was a bit skeptical, but was in a recipe I wanted to try so I ordered it anyway. Was wrapped and shipped safely. I bought it as a garnish for black bean and bacon soup. It smelled so strong, I almost didn’t open it. Again, chose to add it. Wow, very pleasantly surprised. It made the soup that was kind of heavy in taste (still great though) just a bit lighter, refreshing, and therefore perfect. Will definitely use again.

There are a hundred different ways to make this stuff. I love this version, although I sometimes add a little shrimp paste to it. The pepper flavor is very good, I can taste the garlic, nice hint of vinegar, and it has an amount of heat that is tolerable for a lot of people, way too much for others, I'm sure.I like it on lots of things, eggs, dumplings, I even put it on my Peking duck rolls much to the horror of my Chinese wife (it's like having Uncle Roger in the house sometimes lol)My only complaint is that I bought the two pack. One jar came completely broken despite each jar being in a small-bubble wrap package, and then encased in a larger small-bubble wrap package. My irritation was with Amazon as well since they give no way for a refund or to rectify the situation easily because it's listed as groceries. I understand groceries, but this is jars. Finally found a way to get a refund, and then reordered because, like I said I love this stuff.

I got hooked on Sambal from my many travels in Bali. Luckily its available at a local Balinese restaurant I regularly frequent but a bit expensive. I thought I could save some $ by buying this product. However, the taste is not even close to what I used to. After further inspection I noticed this paste is made with Jalepenos instead of Chilis that I am more accustomed to. The Jalepeno gives it an off flavor for me and does not go well with many of the asian dishes in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad tasting, and I am sure it will pair well with mexican dishes. I guess I will just go back to my favorite Bali restaurant and buy the traditional paste that better suits my palate

I use this every day for my food at work, and now it's on my Amazon Subscribe & Save list. It's not crazy hot, and not syrupy sweet like a lot of sauces out there. I add Sriracha to it to up the temperature a bit, but this Sambal Oelek is very tasty on its own.

I'm obsessed with this product. It's fantastic tasting... but I unfortunately am stopping purchasing this due to it containing Seed oils (Sunflower Oil). It's such a shame they use such a TOXIC oil when all the other ingredients are organic / clean..I hope this brand steps it up and eliminates all the seed oil usage. I won't support until it does. Seed oils are toxic beyond all imagination.

Great taste

This is one of my favorite spices. Where I live, it's hard to find locally but this holds up to the Asian markets I used to visit before.Glad I found it here and will continue to order. Perfection!!!
