Bought as a gift for my son, who had just been there. He was impressed by the wonderful pictures. It is a beautiful " cocktail table" book

I was entranced by this beautifully designed, illustrated, and written portrait of a country most of us have never thought of visiting. Perhaps some readers will now aspire to make that visit. I was there briefly in 1968, when Doha was a dusty backwater, and thanks to this book, long to see it again today.

An amazing book written with such understanding and appreciation of the people and country. I travelled to Doha November 2013 and first saw the book in the Islamic Museum of Art. It stuck in my mind and became my Christmas present of choice to my closest friends.

Nice reminder of our time in Qatar!

The pictures are splendid. Surprising for a "coffee table" book, the text is also very informative. You can't stop reading!
