Best volume since the Viltrumite Wars
Best volume since the Viltrumite Wars. The turn of Robot to evil was a drag on this series but now that he's in control of Earth, that's in the background as Invincible decides to head off planet (angering his allies who want his help against Robot) while in the other main subplot Battle Beast and Thrag have it out. It's nice to not see Invincible constantly doing questionable stuff and it's nice to see a return to focus on him and the Viltrumites. Thrag's come up with an actually quite clever plan for returning himself to power. I find myself again looking forward to the next volume.

Battle Beast and Thragg fight to the death
Battle Beast and Thragg fight to the death. To the victor go the spoils and the ongoing plot line. The battle is a solid thread. It is off set a bit by others that are so-so. Family building is nice and all, but not that exciting. One thing about invincible is there no shyness to killing of mainsteam charactes. Plenty in the last 2 trades.

This is different and not in the normal way - and that’s okay
Mark and Eve go to a place. How much spoilers can I put here? Always a fine line to walk... Anyways, this was a great reprieve from all the intensity though, of course, there’s still twists to reveal and intensity abound. But this was also nice with quieter and more, erm, human moments.

Mo' Battle Beast, Mo' Problems
While Mark enjoys family life and begins to adjust to life away from planet Earth, Battle Beast and Thragg engage in the fight of a lifetime! Excellent artwork from Ryan Ottley, as usual, and Kirkman never fails to deliver his quirky sense of humor mixed with some poignant emotional moments.

I mean, you're hardly going to be reading this review if you've never read Invincible before. Why would you want to read a review of the 21st collection of a superhero collection with 114 previous issues? And if you have read Invincible, all previous 20 volumes of it, then you are mostly likely and as I did, have already ordered it pre-publication or just hadn't realised it was out yet. Maybe you are just curious about other peoples' opinions. I'll give you mine, if the rating hasn't already given that away, in a moment. Invincible is one of the best straight-forward super hero titles on the market. It may be THE best. There a neat little scene when our hero in his civilian guise goes to a comic shop for the first time in over a year and has a witty conversation with the guy behind the counter about how nothing really changes in the top two publishers but does in the Independents. They are really talking about Invincible the comic. In the 120 collected issues to date, Invincible has gone from a novice just discovering his powers to possibly the most powerful superhero in the world. But that is almost the least interesting thing about the comic. His relationships have changed drastically, many characters have died, the world has changed, wars have been fought, Invincible himself has been raped, often beaten, sometimes mutilated. The tone has changed from fun teen hero to dark and violent while still maintaining a consistent light art style which makes the dark things that happen actually worse yet still managing a sense of humour and the ability to surprise -like meeting his half-brother's girlfriend when he moves to another world and I'm not going to spoil that one. So: best traditional (sort of) super-hero title around from start to now.

Excelente historia y gran arte, el dibujante no es Ottley sino que Walker regresa como ilustrador en este tomo.
