An exciting romance
Ms Jenkins never fails to deliver the drama and this story was no exception.Lacey is a recent transplant to Detroit. She's still getting used to her surroundings (namely the snow ) but loves her job with the Environmental Agency. However, she starts to reconsider when she's hit from behind during a snow storm and ends up in an embankment.Drake can't believe his driver hit someone but he's quick to get out and rescue the person. What he is met with is a woman who is a beautiful as she is sassy and who doesn't seem to care that he's the mayor. She's just pissed about her car. Surprising to him, he finds the disinterest a turn on.These two dance around their interest in each other but soon give in. They both have doubts; Lacey is still hurting from a high profile divorce and Drake can't have a 'normal' relationship as mayor. Add in some outside forces that are trying to cause them harm and you've got an addictive read.

Urban Romance
I truly enjoyed reading this book as it intermingled environmental elements with politics and crime. The story line concerning lead poisoning in urban areas rings true for Flint MI. For Beverly to make a romantic novel from that tapestry was genius. I couldn't stop reading it. The sex didn't hurt either. I became a fan of hers two years ago..

loved "His Fineness"
I loved this story between Drake and Lacy. To me this one was less action packed and more romantic. I loved the way Drake took his time wooing Lacy. He could tell she was not as experienced as his past women were even though she had been married, so he slowly introduced her to what Dr. Lovemaster had to teach. After years of thinking she was incapable of enjoying or being enjoyed when it came to romance, she was ecstatic to find herself a very willing student for all the lessons the Dr. had to offer. Still enjoyed the serious side of the story and all the mischief the women in these brothers lives seem to stumble upon. Also I enjoyed catching up with Saint and Myk. Since I read out of order I'm a little bummed to be out of stories, but like Ms. Jenkins said maybe Roland has more sons out there.

Just wonderful
I have long been a fan of Jenkins' historical romances and this foray into the contemporary realm does not disappoint. Loved how Jenkins' hero is a descendant of the steamy couple from one her fabulous historicals, Indigo, which was a great nod to her longtime fans, but Black Lace stands on its own even without reading the earlier work. Black Lace has two great main characters with depth and heart and passion for life, community and each other. The subplots around their love story was intricate and engaging. all in all a wonderfully satisfying read. get this book!

EXCELLENT!!!
It's great to hear of our African American Men rising to the top and reaching back and helping not just our people, but our cities as a whole to reduce crime and clean up the neighbors. Beverly's books always show that not only are we progressive in their professional careers, but they are reaching back and helping others. But as you read, you'll always see that there is a strong Black Woman, who raised them to do right even if she had to do it alone. The love and respect these men show towards women and their mothers is what keep our race strong.

Great novel!!!
Black Lace is a great trilogy to Beverly's other 2 books ("Edge of Dawn" and "Edge of Midnight"). It was great to see that Drake and his brothers (Mykal and Saint) are still brothers in evry sense of the word. Also good to get updates on Sarita (Myk's wife) and Narissa (Saint's wife). Drake and Lacy are a great couple who are very much in love with each other. I love the fact that Drake is the more conservative of his brothers; he's also a little cocky (in a good way) which serves to lighten the mood. Lacy definately keeps him on his toes...I love her confidence! This novel was well written and readers will not be disappointed. A great love story and mystery. I look forward to more!!!
