Are these the same crayons as the 12pack just more colors? Or they different somehow? Size or product?

This set has more colors with the metallics and slimmer in size. Otherwise, they are the same quality.

Are these easily breakable if you drop them in a hard surface or toss them across the room?

yes, I personally did not like them

Did you find you needed to use a paint brush to achieve your design? Or was using the sticks on their own enough?

I did not get that detailed in our designs. The kids didn't care doing their own faces. The crayons don't sharpen and not sure a brush would work.
