Cynamed T/C Adson Plastic Surgery Forceps 4.75" Straight Fine Point with Tungsten Carbide Inserts Surgical Veterinary Instruments with Gold Handle (Serrated Tips, Adson Dressing Forceps, TC)

I use the serrated dressing forceps as a sewing aid (for fabrics, not people). They are far superior to the purpose built tweezers sold at fabric stores. I use them to thread needles, pick out thread when using a seam ripper, and tugging out the occasional rats nest from a sewing machine stitch plate.I find that I have to tweak each tip slightly with a pair of pliers. They work best when the serrated tips are perfectly parallel.They are stamped "German Stainless" which doesn't really mean anything. They are ferromagnetic, as are many varieties of stainless steel. This is a desirable quality for me as I frequently drop things (pins, needles, these forceps) on the floor and can pick them up with a telescoping magnet.These are nice and stiff, presumably hardened. I've only lost one pair to a fall--one of the tips broke off. At the price I can buy several pairs, and don't mind that they are prone to fracture. Such is the tradeoff between hard and ductile steel.Cynamed also makes a version of these with a bent tip. Those to are excellent. I use the bent tip version when threading my serger.

This is how I remember tweezers used to be, they had teeth that would allow you to grab a hold of a sliver and pull it out. These are perfection.

I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have among my tweezers a pair with serrated tips. Sometimes you really need to have a good grip on something, and need to do it with a thin form factor (so no pliers). These forceps are great for those times.Cons:1) The serrated inserts easily crack and/or pop off when the tip they are attached to is moderately forced to deflect (so not a result of normal hard use).2) They magnetize with just the mention of magnets (so whisper).My insert that cracked and popped off is held in place primarily by the heat shrink you see, but also—importantly—by some superglue. As you see them, they are very useful when direct contact with the metal serrated tips would do damage, as would use of typical tweezers. So it turned out well. Still 5-Star tweezers.

Using this for suture practice. I like how it actually holds the needle well. Some of the adson tissue forceps in suturing kits have a gap which makes it hard to handle the needle. This one doesn't! So it closes well and is nice to practice with. If you don't want to invest in something like this for practice, just use the normal Adson forceps without teeth.

Quite durable, tip gets a bit discolored. Overall happy with the purchase.

I’m tired of buying consumer grade “quality” tweezers, only to be disappointed by the fact that they won’t pick up a simple thread. I’m using them for fine machine embroidery. They are excellent quality!At first, I was concerned, that the tips were too “thick”. Not so, as they are fine enough to reach anywhere I need to. The finger area is wide, allowing for easy control. Surprisingly, the wear area of the tip, is carbide. The tips meet precisely, and will hold the tiniest thread, to the point of breaking it. They will be around long after I’m gone, retaining their excellent quality.My additional purchase, was fine suture scissors for cutting embroidery thread. I’ve not received them yet, but I’m expecting to have a similar positive experience. Except for Gingher scissors, no more “quality” sewing tools. Medical grade all the way.

I bought because the one that I had could not grasp the suture needle. This grips perfectly.

These instruments are stiffer than I would like. As an Ob/Gyn with over 40 yrs in OR, I would say they give up much of the delicacy one desires in an Adson pickup. OK for training.
