Amazing, versatile camera that punches way above its weight
I bought this after spending a long time researching different Sony cameras. I used to swear by Canon and have a lot of handheld documentary-style and interview filmmaking under my belt as well as social media content creation. I have filmed using an A7Siii in a studio environment and that was the main alternative to this that I was considering. I also looked at the older a6500 as a slightly cheaper alternative. Here's what sold me: - the flip-up touchscreen; - slightly improved processing and body construction; - better ISO sensitivity. I found a deal (separately) on the Carl Zeiss f/4 16-70mm lens and the image quality is staggering on both photo and video. I do mostly documentary-style interviews, vlogging / informational videos, and webinars. I found a simple converter for less than $100 that makes it simple to use this as a 1080p beautiful webcam. This camera is a joy to use. If you use it for long periods of time (as I do in a studio setting), consider finding a dummy A/C power battery to prevent overheating (a very common Sony issue for any shoots longer than ~45min). Sony's autofocus and color settings are simply the best. It would be nice to have dual SD card slots, but that's really the only thing I miss when I consider the much more expensive a7siii.

Dad going from Canon T3i to A6600
I have been using a Canon G9x, Canon G7x ii, and T3i (mostly with 17-50mm 2.8, 70-250mm, 50mm 1.4). I used the t3i for pictures of my kids (sports, portraits, etc). I really needed faster burst shooting and better focus for track meets. I wanted to stay with Canon (just because that is what I'm familiar with), but I wasn't happy with EF-M options (bodies and lenses). I didn't want to go full frame (f2.8 lenses $$$). I decided I wanted to go mirrorless, and I couldn't wait for some rumored Canon APS-C mirrorless. So, I ended up going with A6600 + Tamron 17-70 2.8 + Tamron 70-180mm 2.8 + sigma adapter for 50mm 1.4. I'm very happy. The fast burst speed is great. A bigger buffer would be nice, but not a big deal for me. The focus is everything I was hoping it would be. I love the eye focus. I love the subject tracking. I love that there are so many focus options (area size, position, tracking, flex, etc). I'm also very happy with the size of the 2 lenses. Some people, complain that the touch screen can't be used for the menu. That doesn't bother me at all. I prefer buttons. I don't use the touch screen for menus on my Canon G7X. I prefer the ergonomics of my T3i. I miss the front dial, but I'm quickly getting used to the top/rear dials. I first ordered the a6400, but the grip just felt too small for the 70-180 lens, so I didn't use it at all. I put it right back in the box and ordered the a6600. I'm much happier with the bigger grip. I like the bigger battery. The extra custom buttons and the IBIS are a nice bonus.

Great sharp camera and when paired with the Sony La-ea 5, old minolta and sony alpha lenses shine!
Very happy with the new A6600, especially using it with the Sony Le-ae alpha 5 mount adaptor which allows the older screw driven minolta lenses to work their glorious magic. I include a night shot from Busch gardens 2021 Christmas town at the clock tower. I used the Minolta 30-70 mm F4 lens at 35mm(52 mm ff equiv) Iso 2000 at 1/80th secs hand held with just a light touch of lightening in edit.. otherwise straight from the camera. This was just using the auto selection. No detectable noise and no NR needed in PP. Your old alpha glass with the Le5 adaptor responds quickly while auto focusing, even the old screw driven glass. There is no slt mirror like that in the the La-ea4 so focusing with the older glass happens at the sensor...no micro adjustments needed.(The option is available if you are using the Le2 or the le 4 adaptors on these cameras as per the instructions) Get the "Dave" book for the a6600 that goes into better detail as to how to work the camera and the PDF of the SONY manual is on the purchase page of this camera as well. it doesn't have a built in flash but many lowlight shots don't need one as the noise floor for darker shots has been dramatically lowered in the higher ISO ranges. Many options are available for flash or steady light options with adjustable lumens if desired. Battery life is good for single shots but I'm not a video shooter so others will have better insights as to how long the battery lasts with video. 400 shots in so far with the Le-ae5 in place with 80 percent battery still showing Edit 5/23/23: Camera still going strong and for those who don't know this or have read wrong info...this camera DOES have IBIS or in body stabilization image stabilization.(*and a very effective one!!) I added this edit after reading an amazon review that said the 6600 did not have this feature.

All good.
Brand new camera. All good. Superb battery life as expected. Feels burlier in the hand compared to my old a6500 but not by much. I bought this over the new a6700 because of less bulk/size and I hate the articulating screen on the a6700.

Gorgeous image quality in a compact form factor
I'm not a professional photographer, but I wanted a good quality camera to take better pictures without lugging around a bulky DSLR full frame. This camera fit the bill. I chose it over the 6400 because I wanted the IBIS image stabilization and the ability to run with a bigger battery with more capacity. I paired it with a set of Sigma (30mm & 56mm) prime lenses that can get down f1.4. The quality of the image capture is insane! I work for some big name studios and did a fair bit of research before deciding on this camera because I also wanted to use it for video conferencing and streaming as well. Some pro photographers scoff at mirrorless cameras or APS-C format sensors. I get it. If you're doing this for a living, you need full frame. But even as a backup camera, or for vlogging, this camera is on par with anything Cannon puts out. Sony is known for their slog color profiles and I can't wait to try color grading some footage shot with it. I paired it with the Magewell HDMI capture card for video streaming/chatting and it works very well. I have it set to not turn off after 30 minutes so I can video chat for hours without worry of the camera automatically turning off. I won't go into all the possible settings in the camera. There's plenty of videos on YouTube that discuss all the features in detail. All I'll say is if you're doing research and getting into more serious photography, or if you're a pro photographer looking for a run and gun type camera or a backup to save you in a crunch, you could do far worse than this camera, but in the form factor you'd be hard pressed to do better.

Sony apsc flagship at a bargain price!
Yes the brand new a6700 is just released at $1,398.00/body, and if you are a hybrid or video-centric shooter, it is a BIG step up from the a6600. BUT if you are primarily a stills photographer, the a6600 is a steal at $998.00/body (had been $1,398.00). This camera has an incredible suite of capabilities, big battery, great eye autofocus, custom buttons up the wazoo and feels great in the hand. I prefer the tilt screen, and it's still no slouch for videos. I upgraded from an a6000, added the new-ish Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 zoom as a walk-around lens to augment a Sigma 16mm f/1.4 prime and the results are fantastic. Don't waste your money on a kit lens, get this Sigma zoom for your Sony apsc and don't look back.

Nearly perfect for me.
I LOVE this camera for stills. I was looking at the a7r4, a9 and this. I wanted the a9 auto focus is a tiny camera and thatโs basically what this is. I was fine with giving up full frame for the extra reach due to the crop conversion and the decrease in overall weight. With this camera I bought the Sony 10-18 F4 lens, the Sony 70-350 G Lens and the Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. All of these lenses are sharp and the AF is perfect. The part Iโm most happy with is the a6600 and 70-350 combination. Itโs simply incredible the power that I hold in my hands for wildlife photography. I have the equivalent of 525mm with a9 AF in a package thatโs less than 3 lbs. I am able to capture birds in flight in sharp focus effortlessly. The lens does very well for portraits as well. The bigger battery, camera grip and IBIS are all welcome. The only thing I hoped would be better is the video. Rolling shutter is bad and Iโm used to 4K 60p on the GH5 and GH5s. More megapixels would be nice too when cropping BIFs.

Great, small camera with IBIS
I sold a Sony a6400 and bought this model because I need the in body image stabilization for some lenses. It feels good in the hand, with a comfortable grip and overall balance. Sony's auto-focus is renowned for its speed and accuracy, and the camera's overall image quality is excellent. The only negative factor is that it doesn't have a pop-up flash. This is a quality camera, which I enjoy each time I use it. Highly recommended.

Sony removed the onboard flash - bigger issue that you might think & EVF faulty
I find the removal of the onboard flash is a significant drop in the functionality of the a6600 as opposed to its predecessor the a6500 which did include the flash. Without the flash it makes it a requirement for me to carry an external unit with my type of photography, which negates the advantage of having the smaller, more portable camera system provided with the APS-C alpha series of cameras and lenses as opposed to it's larger, full-framed cousins. While this might not be an issue for some, to me this camera becomes a much worse value than the a6500 which it replaced. Although I would very much like to have IBIS, I will be purchasing an a6400 instead which has nearly all of the upgraded features of the a6600 but retains the on-board flash. As well, the a6600 which I received had a faulty EVF with a somewhat large (to me anyways) grey circle appearing in the upper-left hand quadrant of the screen. See attached photo taken with my cell phone looking through the EVF. The grey circle was present regardless if I was viewing a live scene, a captured image, or even the menu system as you can see in the picture. The dot was not present on the LCD on the back of the unit, nor was it present on the images it took.
