Produced in association with Marvel Television, and set in the "X-Men" universe, family adventure series The Gifted's first season ended with the Mutant HQ Atlanta Station under attack and ultimately destroyed. With things coming to a breaking point, two mutant factions formed, alliances shifted and relationships were put to the test. Sentinel Services, though weakened by the destruction of the Hound Program and departure of agent Jace Turner, is still hunting mutants. Season Two picks up six months later, with the Mutant Underground at their new HQ in Washington D.C., stuck in the middle of an increasingly polarized nation, as both anti-mutant sentiment and the mutant rights movement are on the rise. The X-Men believed that mutants and humans could live together in peace -- now that dream hangs in the balance. The second season introduces Reeva Payge, a powerful and ruthless mutant who takes over as the leader of The Inner Circle and can emit sonic blasts that scramble minds. Also featured are the Morlocks -- known by Marvel Comics fans -- a shadowy group of mutants who live underground. In the dawn of a mutant age, new powers emerge and conflicting ideologies determine the future of Mutant-kind.

Outstanding series that ended too soon
Great tv series! character development and the plot and sub plots were easy to follow and enjoyable. So sorry that it only went a few seasons.

An excellent and deeply felt science-fiction series
The Gifted is a well-done series that is serious, intelligent, and deeply-felt. The cast members give uniformly excellent performances playing nuanced characters who cope with trauma, and persevere while facing tragic dilemmas. It is unfortunate that this series was not continued into a third season. However, (without giving away spoilers) Season 2 ends with a satisfying conclusion for almost all of the story lines of the two seasons, while hinting that the series was about to go in a brand-new direction.Regarding the DVD set, all 4 DVDs played with no problems on my TV's DVD player (an older model LG Blu-ray disc player). Each DVD has a simple menu for episode selection, and while no additional subtitle or alternate audio options are available, I found the video and sound quality of the episodes to be at least as good as in the Season 1 DVD set (My understanding is that this is a Manufacture-on-Demand DVD set, where sets for certain TV series or seasons are only produced by a studio when they are specifically requested by a purchaser. As someone who keeps a DVD/Blu-ray library of his favorite shows and movies, I’m glad that these official DVD releases of The Gifted’s two seasons are available).

Great show, definitely would recommend!
A friend of mine got me into the first season and I became hooked with the second. Been craving more of this! It’s set in the X-Men universe, at a time after the characters we know and love from the original movies are long gone. The character development is great, each in their own arcs and the mixes in the story rich environment stemming from everyone on how their group came to be, what their purpose is, and how they stand together is this world torn between good and evil. I thought the series was amazing! Definitely would recommend it! Sadly, don’t get too attached - they discontinued another good show. It leaves us hanging after the second season.

Great Season
I am an X-Men comics and movie fan and I love this season. Too bad it was not picked up for a third season. I love Thunderbird, Blink, the three triplet telepathic sisters (how they complete each others sentences) well just all of the characters. Thanks

X-ceptional.
One of the best X-Men spin-offs ever produced. (Check out the others: Mutant X and Legion). Great serialized writing, interesting characters including a cohesive (although sometimes challenged) family dynamic between 4 of the characters. I was glad to see the whole series finally released. I'm hoping they'll do the same with Marvel's Runaways and Cloak & Dagger shows too. They're way ahead of DC in writing style and tone at the moment.
