Acceptable
Is an acceptable book. However, any EMT-I's or B's with a lot of field experience will probably be frustrated by the repetitive and long winded nature of it. Basics with little or no field experience going straight into Medic will probably want this book. Or even basics going into Intermediate. As general study though, I personally wouldn't recommend it, however, I don't regret the purchase. It is a little bit grating that so many textbooks pander to the lowest common denominator of the group, yet expected, and there is nothing empirically wrong with the book; hence 5 stars.Highly experienced Intermediates will likely want to skip this and go straight to raw texts.

Great Book
I've been in EMS several years now, and currently finishing up my associates degree for paramedic. Our assigned text was Caroline's Emergency Care in the Streets 6th Edition. I have the highest respect for Nancy Caroline, but her book has been edited and revised so many times that the flow is just hard to learn from. I have some Brady books but decided to go with the newest Mosby 4th edition, paid for it myself as an investment for the National Registry. The 4th edition has all the new curriculum standards, new 2010 AHA Guidelines. The book is laid out very nicely and esy to study from. I wish I had a Mosby book from the very begining.

Best Paramedic Book yet :)
I really liked the book, its complete and updated and more easy to read than my previous book which sometimes I found it boring to read due to to much side note (summary, same meaning) that already included in the paragraph (I do have a brady essential of paramedic care updated which I purchased last december 2010).. So far, so good. Why? the "did you know" box keep me interested for additional information and looking forward on it.. Mosby did good job about this book for updates.. I'm reviewing it right now for the preparation to my exam this coming april

Out of print!
There are as many opinions about paramedic textbooks as there are companies that publish them. I would rate this one mediocre - not terrible but not great. The images are used in other Elsevier textbooks, so I'm familiar with all the anatomy pictures. The book seems to focus on presentation of signs and symptoms - the book is a list of facts related to a single subject. It does not do a good job tying them all together. I would like to see more pathophysiology and what is used to treat it rather than a list of treatments that apply to certain signs. This book has a problem that is shared by many of my EMT/paramedic textbooks - the image related to a text is not on the same page as the text. This forces the student to flip back and forth. The book weighs 9# and spans 1760 pages. It is larger and weighs more than my 4 year old 17" laptop with an extended life battery! It is a pain to carry back and forth to school, study sessions, and clinicals. Two or four volumes (to match years or semester of school) would be much more user friendly.Elsevier has stopped publishing this book.

Not just good enough
In my Opinion, this Textbook is currently the most comprehensive Paramedic Book available, it is a real shame that it will likely be last of its kind for sometime. While others are adequate this one is superb.Additionally the conditon of this book was of perfection.

so reading it sucks. On the other hand
It's a textbook, so reading it sucks. On the other hand, it's all I've needed for my past 3 challenge refreshers for my medic. if you need a medic textbook, you need this book. Unless there's a newer edition, lol.
