I like the book and it’s already helping me navigate Procreate. I think it’s going to be a brilliant guide. However I don’t understand how to access the downloadable resources. It says to find them on p208 but there’s just words and descriptions, with no info on where to get them from. I’m probably just being dumb! Also beware if you have difficulty reading white text on a black background. Some people swear by it, but if you’re like me it can be a hard on the eyes and leave after images flashing all over. Everyone’s different! EDIT: I have since found the downloadable resources online on 3D Total Publishing’s website. Maybe this is something that is known if you buy the book directly from them, however a note in the book directing you there wouldn’t go amiss!!

I am an Artist & wanted to try Digital Art that so many people are talking about, including David Hockney! I have no money for an IPad, but when I found I could use Pocket on my old IPhone, I downloaded the App. Well, I got a little way with it, but was pretty lost in how to get further. I researched help books buyable on Kindle as so much cheaper, & this came out best. Yes, not everything is the same on both programs, but most of the important stuff is. As I find there’s so much to remember, I pracy the important bits in a notebook. This I find invaluable. I have not finished the book yet, but it’s helped me get to grips with things so far & is reasonable to understand. I would recommend to anyone using Procreate or Pocket who wants to find out how to use it. Well worth the money.

If you are new to procreate and / or digital art and painting in general this book is a great choice for beginning steps, great quality, the book is aesthetically very nice to look at and easy to follow, not too complex but has a lot of information in 10/10 recommend.

I like this book but still learning from it with my new iPad. It will take sometime I am sure. Only complaint that I have is I wish it was a ringbinder format as it would be much easier to have open when you are studying the marvellous things it can do. I buy a few art books and always disappointed if they aren't produced ring binder style. Sometimes one doesn't have enough room to have an instruction book open, so being able to fold it back helps such a lot.

Amo este libro. Tened muy en cuenta antes de comprarlo que está en inglés. Es un inglés bastante entendible, pero es necesario tener, al menos, unos conocimientos básicos del idioma. Las imágenes son preciosas y en alta resolución y te explican paso a paso cómo usar Procreate, de lo más sencillo a lo más complejo. Está súper bien, y además puedes realizar algunos de los proyectos de tus artistas favoritos, pues los explican paso a paso.

This is a stunningly designed book, and I will for sure be purchasing more books from this publisher, though this book does give me pause on whether I would buy any more of their Procreate range. Published in 2020, it is out of date, and there are features mentioned that no longer exist in Procreate, and other features they don’t cover as they weren’t a part of the software back then. As someone who has been using Procreate for 10+ hours a day for the last 3.5 years, I am far from a beginner with Procreate, but I do work with and teach beginners how to use it. i’m pretty knowledgeable on most of the features, though of course we do all have our blind-spots. There were a couple of features this book did shine a light on for me, though I also found my eyes glazing over at times. I’m not entirely sure if that’s because of the layout and the glossy pages (often black with white writing) or because it was all a lot of talk about the features without anything interactive. The first 71 pages are a run-down of the features, and while it is informative and there are some handy illustrations and comparisons between filters and features, this definitely would have been more engaging if it went into how to best utilise these tools, or included exercises to demonstrate any of this. The artists featured all create stunning work and it was interesting to get insight into how they develop their concepts, but the projects that make up two thirds of the book cover many of the same bases in terms of composition, sketching, filling in, and detail. It would have been nice to have projects that focused on different elements of the program a little more, incorporating elements like text, adjustments, filters, and custom brushes, which are all largely missing from these exercises. In summary, I think this book would be more useful for a reader who has some experience with digital art/Procreate and is fairly confident on an iPad. I would not suggest this for the absolute beginner or someone who is just starting to explore Procreate. It’s not really accessible to those who are just getting started.

All 3D total publishing books are professional guides. This book is a fantastic guide to multiple disciplines such as landscape paint, character paint etc. All the concepts here are applicable to other studio grade apps like Photoshop.
