Kensington K64210 Turbo Mouse Trackball (Mac)

This trackball is no longer stocked by Kensington. It does not fit a USB connection port. I had to return it to Amazon because I could not use it with my iMac.

This item only worked for a few weeks after I got it. I don't know how old it was before I got it, so I can't speak definitively to its reliability, but after I had had it only a couple of weeks, the horizontal started to skip, and just today it gave up altogether. It must be electrical, because it doesn't move even when I turn the wheel manually. Vertical and buttons seem to work OK.

An SE/30 whose owner was too high on himself paired the SE/30 with a period Apple Keyboard (non-extended) and a traditional mouse like mine but also procured for it a Turbo Mouse. I had always wanted one, but I needed something like what I'm describing to actually get me to go out and get one. Well, when the first sentence became reality I checked the OS requirements and it should run on my Macintosh IIci which I set up just so that SE/30 could meet it's match-it's got Ethernet, a Serial NB Card (those two come in handy for special-purpose duty as an AppleTalk router to b fair); and now with the Kensington Turbo Mouse like the one in the picture (I've already loaded the drivers); that SE/30 in stock form will just have to eat the dust of my IIci!About me: In another life I would love the SE/30 as it's the perfect compromise choice and could do the work of all of my other computers devoted collectively to being a replacement for it all in one. But when people who are rivals to me support the SE/30 with passion while everyone else who loves the IIci either is over it, never loved it, or loved the SE/30 more-and that lack of support for what for me has been a vastly better computer so much tasks me that I want to build up the IIci to where it has no competition except from computers that are clearly it's betters like the Quadra 700 and Macintosh IIfx. With the Turbo Mouse oncoming, that will quickly get to be reality.

just received my Turbo Mouse Trackball for my iMac; but it's outdated. Cannot install the old software nor can I find any current drivers to update this. Will try and locate software; but may end up returning it.

I've used a Kensington TurboMouse for a solid decade, and I use my computer 4-5 hours per day, so I can recommend it with confidence.The first one I bought lasted nine years. The fat ball and easy-to-click, naturally positioned buttons were a welcome relief from the Macintosh mice of the early 90's. User definable functions such as right button and chord (clicking both buttons at once) made the TurboMouse even more functional than a mouse. Heavily weighted with non-skid pads, it sits in about 1/2 the space of a mousepad. It gives a feeling of sturdiness and absolute precise control over your cursoring. And it's easy to clean; the ball falls out when you turn it over.When mine started to go on the blink after 9 years, I ordered another - the 4-button model you see here, compatible with Kensington's latest software. Then I got up the courage to peel the sticker off the bottom. Lo and behold, the rollers were visible! And you would not believe the brown gunge that was accumulated in there. After I cleaned that out, the 9-year-old trackball was again functioning perfectly. What a service record!I do recommend a foam wrist support with this, although it is much easier on the old carpal tunnel than a standard mouse. Gamers beware: you may discover trouble with using the button definitions with such games as Myth and Starcraft; to be quite precise, these used to work on my old PowerMac 7300, but no longer work on the ADB port of my Yikes! B&W G3. But I don't care about that very much; it's a great product and I'd buy a third in a heartbeat.

I have had the original expert mouse for a long time and it is much eaiser to use than a normal mouse. I would not buy it though if you play a lot of games becuase it is hard to move very fast to certin but is great for regular use. Buy it!
