Very Good, bought the 0.5 version too
You have to compare it to other 0.3 mm offerings. 0.3 mm is fragile. It does not work on rough paper. You have to decide whether the other reviews are reviewing 0.3 mm lead or this pencil. The pencil is a bit delicate - it is the nature of an auto advanced 0.3 mm mechanism. It is more a pencil for a home or an office worker or a student doing homework at home. It is not for an explorer or a student lugging stuff from class to class in a pouch in a backpack. The tip itself will push a hole in your clothing. Rotating the lead is not important since 0.3 is so thin. It works wonderfully in an office and for someone who carries pencils in a hard pencil box. You can't press too hard - but that is the nature of the 0.3 lead. If you do the math, 0.3 lead has less than 50% cross-section of 0.5 (I realize the actual measurement is not exactly these numbers.). 0.3 mm lead wears out fast and needs constant advance. The auto-advanced mechanism solves this. This is not so useful for a 0.5 mm pencil because a 0.5 lead does not need advance so often and it does not bother me to advance 0.5 mm lead occasionally. With respect to the barrel interfering or scratching, if you write for a while, the barrel will smooth out. It is great for lightly marking up a book, making notes on a book, while reading. It looks durable enough. I suppose it is not as strong as a 0.5 mm mechanism and if I write 8 hours a day I don't know how long it would last. But for my purposes, marking up books lightly, it is great and the writing looks legible and professional.

writes super smoothly
The pencil writes really crisp and smoothly, although it takes some getting used to such a thin lead size. You have to keep the lead almost flush with the metal tip and the tip will move back when you write. if you use it like a regular mechanical pencil it will keep snapping the lead easily. It also auto feeds the lead so you dont have to be constantly adjusting it. Only complaint is it is a bit thin for my hand and I get sore when writing for long periods, although that is more of a personal preference and not something wrong with the pen. lastly the eraser can be annoying at first, since when you push down on it to erase, the lead will begin to pump out. the eraser is pretty good though, so you can just use less pressure and erase at a bit of an angle to counteract this. Apart from this, the quality is really great and feels super nice. I usually prefer fountain pens because mechanical pencils tend to be cheap and plasticky, but this has changed that. I know use this more than more expensive fountain pens. Overall the benefits far outweigh any problems in my opinion

Best 0.3 pencil I have used
I like the sharpness of 0.3 pencils but they have 2 drawbacks: the lead breaks easily and it runs down quickly so you're frequently pausing your writing to click for more lead. This pencil solves both. The sliding nose prevents the lead from breaking and the pencil automatically keeps the lead advanced as you lift the pencil while writing. Some of the Kurutoga pencils have the sliding nose to protect the lead, but they don't auto-advance. They do rotate to keep the lead sharp, which the Pentel Orenz does not do. But while that is nice with 0.5 and thicker lead, it's unnecessary with 0.3 lead. This nero version of the Orenz is also "tight". When you hold the point on the paper, there is virtually no slop or play through the pencil nose and tip. It is also nicely weighted and balanced. I've lost count of the different mechanical pencils I've used over the years, but this is one of the best, if not the best. I just hope it lasts. Only time will tell.

Great pencil with two main flaws
I bought this pencil a second time after losing the first, I still stand by that after a full school year of using it. It is very comfy and is the nicest pencil I have felt. There are two major issues though. -The eraser always sinks into the hole, preventing me from trying to use it anymore -Sometimes it has issues when the lead runs out and it takes a minute to fix it up I wouldn't recommend taking a test with only this pencil, but otherwise it's great to use. The auto refill feature makes the lead impossible to break and you also never really have to click when it runs out.

Stellar pencil with a useful feed mechanism
It literally fixes almost everything which I didn’t really like on the Pentel Graphgear 0.3. The build is stellar, it’s light like plastic with the durability and textile of metal. So far the feed mechanism is been great, might be the last (0.3 at least) pencil I’ll ever buy.

Great idea, but still advancing for lead
Kinda okay , I still have to advancing for more lead often. I'm disable , I really wanted this to work as promised

My favorite pencil.
This pencil has got to be my favorite writing utensil and has been for years now. The dodecagonal shape of the body makes it comfortable to hold in any rotation. The body is made of a strange blend of metal and plastic that makes it feel soft(?) and silky to touch but also solid and durable. The pencil's weight (~18g) feels evenly distributed making it a breeze to write with, especially for extended periods of time. Because the lead comes out on its own as you write, you don't have to fuss with pressing any buttons or switches when you're trying to jot down notes from that professor that lectures at 4x speed. If there is one thing I'd criticize, it's the eraser being a bit of a pain at times as it tends to slide back in its sleeve. Although I will say, if you're dropping the money on this pencil, you're probably not the kind of person that needs to erase often. Heck, I bought this pencil back in 2020 and I still have yet to exhaust the first eraser it came with. There is one thing I do want to make note of that you should heed before making your purchase: this pencil does NOT perform well if you write at a 30 degree angle or if you tend to apply a lot of pressure when writing. Your writing posture should be at a roughly 45 degree angle for the lead advancement to work correctly. Overall, pretty damn awesome pencil that has stuck with me through many lectures and essays.

Amazing item, I don’t see this breaking down anyyyy time soon and is at an amazing value for the years I see that will this pencil will still be working. The build is fantastic and the feel is great. As someone with big hands, I’ve seen some of the trouble with the control of the pen, and the fineness of the led, but I have found no issues. It also comes with some led inside, something I didn’t seem to find in the description and was glad. This would’ve prompted me to go for same day delivery.
