meekoo 2 Pack Float Ball Valve 1/2 Inch Autofill Float Valve

Needed a good quality float for an automatic watering system I was building for my rabbitry. Decided to go with this one and glad I did. I paired it with a Gilmore brand fitting to convert to a water hose attachment. I used a translucent bucket and pvc fittings which were all bought from my local HD. If you plan to use this style float for a watering system, know that a really large animal would need a large water container for this float to replenish the water fast enough. It.has a fairly slow fill rate. I am using it with 16 rabbit cages with zero issues. The hole can be drilled in the bucket easily with a 3/4" hole saw. I used premium silicone between the bucket and fittings to insure a leak proof job. I also used 400 grit scotch pad to scuff the plastic so the silicone would stick better but that's not totally necessary. Would buy it again

I use this in my pond outside in my backyard for my water. Was exactly what I needed shipped in a great amount of time and packaged well. I still have three more in case I need it in case the other part breaks again which is also nice.

These things are plastic and therefore are easy to break. In the past I would have to turn off the water supply and keep the pool filled by hand until I could get to the pool supply and buy another one. These came in a 4 pack so if one gets broken li have to do is take out another one and screw it into the supply pipe and we're up and running again. Perfect size and when I installed it the pool was full and it didn't leak. Now there's a steady trickle keeping the pool full.

I literally buy these in bulk. Great for autofill buckets, chicken waterers, dog bowls, etc. Cheap enough i can get many, and if one fails, just swap in a new one. I've had the inlet split before, so... could be slightly better quality, but not bad overall.

NPT pipe thread is defined as having a tapered thread, and with specific dimensions. This float's Amazon description specifically states "National Pipe Tapered" for the inlet connection type. IT IS NOT TAPERED, it has straight threads. Also, it is NOT 3/4" as specified, it is a 1/2" pipe thread as defined by the standards (see my attached chart, from the ANSI/AMSE standards. True, the outside tips of the thread are "approx. 3/4 inch" as stated (actually, a bit larger than 0.8"), but that's the outside diameter of a 1/2" pipe, per the standards (see the "Outside Diameter D" dimension on the attached chart). So, if you go to the hardware store and buy a 3/4" PVC NPT pipe with a 3/4" female threaded end, this float will NOT fit it! Too small, and the PVC pipe thread will be tapered, and this float valve thread is not tapered. THAT SAID, it may be possible to use this float on a female 3/4" PVC NPT pipe, with caveats. You can purchase a PVC NPT adapter, 3/4" male to 1/2" female. The float will fit into the 1/2" female side (thread spacing seems to match), and the adapter's 3/4" male side will fit your 3/4" NPT female pipe thread. The 1/2" pipe taper fit may work, if you use the right amount Teflon or PTFE tape. Some reviews have said that an adapter works, and I suspect this is what they mean. I'm just trying to expand upon and help specify what other reviewers have warned about on this float. The listing is very confusing about the pipe size.

A great compact valve. It is all plastic except for the stainless cotter pin. Replacement was perfect.

On my outdoor fountain, I awoke to a flooded backyard. The ball valve, despite an overfilled foutain from the rain, broke. The arm was up but kept flowing and it ran for hours. It's broken internally and missing a part that stops the water flow as the arm and ball are still attached. I removed it and when I blew through the device, it blows despite any movement of the arm which should make it flow on and off. I have the second one (if you blow into it, it shuts off if you lift the arm), but I won't trust it so I've installed it but will replace with another one. My was from China, X00273KK0T M0786 5.12 is what the packaging has on it.
