I decided to try this gift wrap cutter because it seemed like a handy tool to make wrapping gifts a little easier. It does cut the wrapping paper cleanly and quickly, so it works as advertised. The blade is sharp, and the design makes it easy to handle, which is a plus when you’re trying to get a straight line without jagged edges. That said, I’m not sure it’s much better than just using a pair of scissors. It does the job, but I honestly feel like scissors would work just as well for cutting gift wrap, and they’re probably easier to store and use for other tasks too. Overall, it’s a good tool if you’re looking for something specific for gift wrapping, but if you already have scissors, it might not be a must-have.

I know what you're saying--"nearly $20 for two gift wrap cutters?" I know, I did too. But there's a hidden cost people don't realize--its make in the United States, which is a rare thing these days, and that means higher wages for the staff, higher costs for production materials to manufacture, and so on. It's a solid little gizmo that you'd wish you'd thought of sooner. If you're anything like me, you need that wrapping paper with the grid printed on the back to cut an effective straight line, and it still ends up botched because the paper bunches up when not held down and causes a rip, or you go outside the line anyways. This does away with that. You're going to look like a professional who's been doing this for years with tube-based wrapping paper. The device is sturdy enough that you don't have to worry about it breaking down-- just don't try and expand it beyond its limitiations to expand a larger tube of paper (most tubes don't come in the giant diameter rolls anyways, fortunately). If there's any drawback, its that the blade will eventually wear out after hundreds of uses, and there's no discernible way to replace the blade (which seems to use an exacto blade). This is about the only drawback, and given the sturdiness and hardy build of the tube itself, this would be a real shame to have to toss, only to use the backup included. It would take some prying to get the blade out and remounted, but would be loose from that point on unless glued in. Otherwise, if you're not heavy on giftwrapping, this could last you a decade or longer with just a single unit alone. You're also ensuring that the individuals who helped make it are paid a fair wage versus the quick and easy, cheaper overseas knockoffs.

You need to have good quality thicker wrapping paper for this to work best. It tears thinner paper if not used slower sometimes

My dad loves this thing for wrapping any sort of gifts! He uses it every year and he says it cuts well, is heavy duty, and is easy to use. We’ve had it for a while now and he said he’ll purchase another when needed!

Love this tool. The blade seems to be goos quality because it consistently cuts the paper (doesnt shred it) The plastic isnt bulky to told in your hand.

These are very helpful in getting a cleaner cut than standard scissors on even thicker or foiled wrapping papers. Plus they store around a paper tube, keeping it from unwinding.

I love this! However, only one of the 2 in the pack worked. The faulty one had a blunt blade, and it couldn’t cut through paper

A sturdy piece of equipment with a sharp blade. Makes cutting paper easier, in a straight line with no jaggered edges. Comes in a pack of two which is great. I'm very happy with my decision to purchase the original ELF cutter. You pay for what you get.
