Very high build quality, lighting mechanism takes some practice
This is a very high quality lighter. It is made of metal and has a very solid feel, good build quality, it is nothing like those cheap plastic disposable ones. The mat black finish is also very nice. As some others pointed out, it is a little tricky to light at first, you have to press a button with your index finger, then click the trigger, it takes some practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's just fine, I think some people complain for no reason. People complaining about the fact that it is shipped without fuel, there is a reason they do this. They keep it empty so that they can ship it using 2-day air. If it has fuel in it, they have to use ground shipping. So a lot of companies ship their stuff without fuel for this reason. And you have to buy the fuel separately, either locally, or wait for ground shipment. If you look at the butane cans, you will see this: "This product may not be available for 1 or 2 day shipping due to federal regulations that require it to ship via ground ship methods only" And finally, many have said that this thing dies after just a few weeks. I've had mine for about 3 months, and so far so good, no issues. I seriously wonder if these people know how to refill it correctly! Tip: you have to point the fuel can upside down when refilling, if you refill right side up, you won't get any liquid fuel in there. Pro: - great build quality, metal case, nice mat black finish - flexible neck works well, sturdy and good quality - easy to refill Con: - lighting mechanism takes some practice to get used to it Tip: - refill with the butane can upside down

love it
I start a lot of outdoor fires to burn off fallen branches in the country. This works. Every time. Outside in the wind. I really like that it's refillable and not a piece of crappy plastic. I was using a disposable up every weekend. Very glad to have something that will last at least a year with refillable fuel. I will warn you... I followed all the directions for the first fill use exactly. I used Zippo brand butane and was sure I completely filled the fuel reservoir (held the can upside down and pressed it against the fill valve for a good minute or more). I turned the flame to the lowest setting and waited overnight to try it (hard to wait). When I tried to fire it up (lol) it didn't light. Over and over I tried and nothing. I had to turn the flame up to full to get it to light the first time, which was against all the instructions. But that worked. I love it. It works in high wind. It's a great little lighter.

Updated - Great Lighter - just make sure you understand how to fill it - and FILL IT! Lol
Update - 1/7/2021- I'm a little embarrassed to say - my initial review was in part due to a lack of understanding about 'filling' butane lighters. Most of my complaint come to the fact that the lighter from day one, was just never properly filled. Make sure you take your time - 10 to 15 mins if needed, to hold that can to the lighter filler. It may take that long. And then let it rest for about 10 minutes before trying to light it. I LOVED this thing and just DIDN'T WANT IT TO FAIL. I had even taken it apart to see if maybe I could figure out WHY it was failing. Oddly, when the nozzle is off, it works better when underfilled, but maybe because you loose the regulator function that keeps it from becoming a full out torch. Regardless - IF properly filled, I found the unit to be a great household candle and fireplace lighter. High wind situations are not best for this - but it fails less quickly than a match would under similar circumstances. Apologies to Zippo. I do think you guys are still behind the curve and are leading on 1950s tech in some ways, but I am glad you are still IN BUSINESS and producing quality made products. Thanks for reading. Sorry for the original slam and wish someone would have reached out to me for 'support'. Oddly - your product eventually restored my faith in what you do. This lighter DOES NOT live up to expectations. ANY $2 lighter from a convenience store - will out perform this unit. I have to click it sometimes 6 or 8 times to get it to light. When it DOES light - the flame is so pitiful - I'm amazed it's able to light ANYTHING. Zippo supposedly has a lifetime warranty - but this is my third Zippo - though the other two were lighters. What we have here is a company that ONCE set the standard and OWNED the market - not more focused on what something "LOOKS LIKE" than how it actually performs. AT $14 per lighter - they sure won't go out of business - but that's it. I'm never buying another ZIPPO anything again. SAD sad sad that this company has not over the years IMPROVED it's products. They are still operating OBVIOUSLY on 1950's tech. Beautifully designed - but embarrassed by the thing if I have to use it in front of company. TOTAL LET DOWN - don't buy it.

Junk, save your money.
Don't make the same mistake I did. I read all the reviews indicating the lighter works 3 times and then quits....and still thought "I'll give it a go". My lighter works but due to the poor design of this device its EXTREMELY difficult to light and as someone else has already pointed out you'll spend more time clicking the igniter trying to get it to light than you would actually using the lighter. There are other flexible lighters on the market that offer much better designs, I bought this unit to replace the one I had that lasted more than 7 years before it failed. Pros: -It's a Lighter: When it works, its a regular lighter. It's not one of those types that have a "jet flame" Cons: -Pro Is Also a Con?: The Pro listed above is also a con, since it's not a jet flame style of lighter when you flex the lighter upside down you get the same effect if you used a 50 cent lighter, and turned it upside down while using the flame. I use this lighter for lightning candles inside of things and this exceedingly difficult when you actually can't control the specific area of the flame. -Filled Much? I have No Idea: There is no view window like other models that give you an indication of lighter fill level: initially, I spent more time trying to determine if I was properly filling the lighter before I realized its a clicking nightmare to get it lit. -Clicking Nightmare: Due to an extremely poor design, it requires a very ambidextrous individual to properly press the back safety button/gas button and move the action on the front to activate the igniter. If you have difficulty with your hands or carpal tunnel, avoid this lighter like the plague. Other Thoughts -The individual(s) that gave this lighter a review of 5 stars indicating "best lighter ever!" or something to that effect must have no clue what a good flexible lighter is like. I on the other hand do know what a good flexible lighter is like and you can safely bet your money that if I could return this thing for a refund, I would.

Best of the best
Zippo delivers another quality product. It's got some weight to it and feels well made although it is made in China. I've never really experienced any problems with Zippo except their rechargeable hand-warmer. The child safety feature is excellent and is even a challenge for adults. The flame isn't like your typical torch, it's somewhere in the middle of a basic lighter and a torch. Haven't experienced any troubles getting things lit. Definitely recommend, especially over the disposable alternatives.

Good concept, lousy execution - save yourself from frustration
Great concept, but plagued with problems. The flex neck idea is great, especially for hard to reach places like lighting candles inside lanterns. Operation requires the user to hold down a button on one side of the handle while simultaneously sliding another button on the opposite side of the handle - not the easiest maneuver, and when it needs several tries to light, it can be very frustrating. I could live with that, but this lighter simply stops working periodically, even when filled with butane. I thought I was doing something wrong, but other users report exactly the same problem. This is when I realized this lighter is a piece of garbage. Back to my old reliable.

Ignore the negative reviews. This thing is awesome!
I initially had a hard time deciding if I should buy this. I was looking for an outdoor lighter that was refillable with butane (butane is cheap) because I was sick and tired of spending money on those plastic, disposable lighters that cost 5 or more bucks each. I took a chance on buying this one because I have owned handheld Zippo lighters in the past that were very well made and reliable. I was not disappointed. This lighter is solid, very well made, and dependable. The only suggestion I would offer is, the way that the lighter is constructed, it seems to be designed for men, that have large hands, or even larger hands. I am a male with large hands, so this lighter is perfect for me. However, if you are someone with small hands, or tiny hands, you will find this lighter difficult to operate using only a single hand. So, those looking to purchase this lighter and operate it with just one hand; make sure you own hands that are on the larger side. Otherwise, stop griping, and buy some matches.

Well built, flexible neck reaches everywhere, Zippo quality
The torch has a very reliable flame that stands decently strong wind, the built quality and materials is what one would expect from Zippo. Straight forward refilling with gas. My only drawback, understanding it is a safety feature, is the dual button operation which can be cumbersome in occasions.

Wow...
Lighter didn't last after 3 weeks of daily usuage. The trigger is now loose and won't click and light up anymore. I plan to sue Zippo for false advertising.

Excellent produit
Dommage pour la marque, fait en Chine ! Se recharge facilement. Flamme bleue principalement. Peut être maintenu assez longtemps sans se brûler.

Prodotto all'altezza delle aspettative
Amazon naturalmente eccellente come sempre!

ガスの減りと火力に問題
使い方が悪いのか、ガスの減りが早い感じで、火炎もあまり強くできません。 今どきは、チャッカマンにもノズルが曲がるものがあるので、チャッカマンのほうが安定的かもしれません。
