Bestway Flowclear Sand Filter System with ChemConnect

Superb bit of kit, very easy to set up, had it operational in minutes on our above ground pool.No more filter changes!!

We bought this Sand Filter as an upgrade to the Bestway Cartridge Filter Pump (800 Gallon) which could not clear our outdoor Bestway pool quick enough after heavy usage, poor weather, post slight algae treatment etc.This pump was hugely over-specified for our needs at a system flow rate of 2,200 Gallons per hour. However, it cleans significantly faster than the filter pump can and we only run for 4 hours a day (2 hours AM, 2 hours PM) which is enough to cycle the water 2 times. PLEASE NOTE: I would recommend you take a smaller model if you have a 12-foot or even 15-foot pool, as mentioned above this was somewhat overkill but will be getting a larger pool next year.We have been hugely impressed with the cleaning capability. We have achieved water clarity where when you look at the bottom of your pool, you can't really tell there is water in-between. We could only achieve this after a few days with the Cartridge Pumps. In effect, with kids in and out of the pool you never really got it back to a crystal clear and hygienic state with Cartridge Filters.Setup is fairly straightforward, although if you are new to Sand Filters you need to be a little brave in going with the flow and looking at videos online to verify what you are doing. It is not as simple as getting started with the Filter Pumps, but once it's up and running it's much more hands-off. (e.g. cleaning via back-washing the sand every few weeks or when the pressure builds telling you it's time).A few items to note for people looking at Sand Filters for the first time:1. They are not loud, but louder than Cartridge Pumps.2. You need to buy the sand, and the RIGHT sand or you will have sand in your pool! You can use other types of media but I cannot comment on them as have not tried them.3. You need to be close-ish to an outside socket - the 3,000 Gallon model pulls 450 WATTS an hour so no flimsy extension cords. It's also worth noting that they will cost (on average) more money to run.4. When backwashing, you will use your pool's water which will then need to be replaced. The higher the power of the pump, the more water it will use.5. The hoses supplied are larger and heavier, so tend to pull down on your inlet/outlet of Bestway pools. We have created a harness to support them and help them not create tension at the entry point.6. This will need to be winterized once the season is over. That does mean taking the sand out, cleaning the unit, and storing it for the next season.6. Same safety rules apply as Cartridge Filters - do not operate in the rain and do not operate when people are in the pool. There are not like public pumps/filters which have a lot more isolation protection between the pumps and the water.Our overall verdict was that this was fun to put together, produces superb pool clarity results, and should be something that lasts for a long time with proper care. If you like clear water, you should consider this for sure.

Not for people that do not like reading instructions! Blew about 2 tonne of sand back into pool as turnt wrong switch ( around 5-6 different settings . But seems ok and keeps pool clean. Power seems a little weak

Cannot fault .my pool is 18ft diameter and it does a fantastic job. Perfect. Powerful, great backwashing function.

So I've owned a 10ft intex pool for 17 years, the only thing that annoyed me was the level of cleaning, the little cartridge filter just never quite did the job. I was forever washing sludge out the filters and the pool never stayed crystal clear no matter how much I cleaned it. SO now my kids are older and having to put up with all different children permanently in and out of it..... I decided to upgrade the pump. This BESTWAY sand filter has literally revolutionised this summers pool use. It fits straight on the intex pool no problem. As long as you know how to dose your chemicals properly the water stays as clean and clear as the day you filled it up. My pool maintenance went from everyday after it had been used to literally once a week. It's fascinating back washing the sand filter and watching all the crap come out, even though your pool is crystal clear. The only NEGATIVE IS... I wish I had invested in one YEARS ago. I hated watching kids get get in covered in suntan lotion, etc knowing that I'd be washing sludge out of a filter for 30 mins, NOT with this legendary PUMP, I cannot recommend it enough. Now I have used it all summer I can write an honest review. I left mine running 24/7 made zero difference to my electric bill either. If your a keep your pool clean freak like me, this will be the best 130 quid you've ever spent. I didn't care how many friends the kids had over in the pool, because the pump was awesome. Well done to BESTWAY a product that does exactly what its meant to.

Very happy with our sand filter we used the washable balls instead of sand and it works great for our pool !
