Japanese Ikebana for Every Season

Totally flummoxed about the low price for a good book
Absolutely stunning book. Very very beautiful pics and useful explanations. Must buy for flower arrangement, enthusiasts. I was a bit floored by the low price at which Amazon is selling this book. Only issue is the print is small. Otherwise very happy to possess it.

Great book
This is a wonderful book on the art of ikebana. It starts with an overview of the techniques. Curisouly, it doesn't discuss the use of kenzan at all, instead it shows other stabilizing techniques with natural components. There is no systematic discussion of various flowers or what they symbolise, but a few flower types are mentioned in relation to the suitable preparation techiques. Most of the book is about analyzing Yuyi Ueno's ikebana creations, which is a lot of fun to read - you get a glimpse of what the artist is thinking when making these creations. The arrangements are out of this world, they are perfect examples of the Japanese ikebana philosophy. Wonderful gift for anyone interested in the art.4 stars because mine came with the sleeve rather badly damaged (crumpled across the front and torn at the edges), but it doesn't diminish the value of the book at all. The hardcover, binding, and pages are intact.

Good inspiration & explanations
I bought this as a present for a friend who has recently started learning Ikebana. I looked inside before giving it to her and I loved it. It’s not from her school but I thought quite simple style would suits my friend. She said she thoroughly enjoyed it. I would get a copy for myself when the price goes down to what I paid before Christmas (now £5 more expensive).

My favourite ikebana book
I love this book! It’s beautiful, simple and elegant. Having lived in Japan I appreciate the Japanese style and artistic sensitivity, and this book truly appeals to western taste and sensibilities as well. Just great!
