Harrisville Designs Deluxe Potholder Loom
Although I still have and use the potholder loom that I bought almost sixty-five years ago [a dollar out of my allowance], I decided to try this one--in part because I'd so admired the colors of the loops pictured in the ads on various web sites. It is, in at least one important way, an improvement over my old loom: the shape of the pegs that hold the loops is much improved--not nearly as difficult to keep the loops on the loom as with my old one. On the other hand, I wish the "empty" corners were as "roomy" as the ones on my old loom because getting that rod through to weave the last couple of loops can be a challenge, particularly for children. The loops provided--enough for six potholders with the Deluxe model-- as some people have noted, can be shaggy. Potholder loops have always had a tendency to be shaggy, but it doesn't matter for the final result. The important thing is that the loops fit--no need to discard any of them. And the colors really are lovely. [In case anybody wonders, the loops that fit my old loom also fit this one.] I wouldn't hesitate to buy this loom as a gift for child or adult. Children can enjoy the fun and the opportunity to make good gifts for grownups. Adults never have to face the possibility of being without really good potholders. [If you don't buy the "Deluxe" loom with its ample supply of loops, I suggest that you buy the large bag of loops to go with the plain loom. Once somebody starts weaving, that person will not be satisfied with material for only two potholders. Furthermore, the more loops, the more design possibilities.

Best Loom & Loops Ever
These are the best potholder loops that have ever been on the market. Remember those bland, dull, boring potholder loops when you were a kid? Hard to stretch across the loom? Lots of washed out pink, yellow, red, and green loops? THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU'LL FIND IN THIS PRODUCT!! THE LOOPS: Vivid, vibrant colors; cotton loops that stretch* just right across the loom. THE LOOM: Sturdy metal that won't bend. THE TOOLS: Sturdy metal loop hook to pull loops through; crochet hook for finishing edges. *I've purchased this product and several refill bags, including A-lotta loops (assorted colors), and several bags of individual colors. After making over 30 potholders, I've had less than 20 loops that would not stretch across the loom. Each bag I've purchased (enough for about 55+ potholders) contains enough extras to more than make up the difference. These loops make beautiful, thick, durable potholders!! All off the bags I've purchased have contained loops that are as vibrant and saturated as those pictured. NOTE: I'm an adult and purchased these for my own use as a less demanding alternative to knitting or crocheting; AND a more constructive way to keep my hands busy than reaching into a bag of chips! With the assortment of interesting, vivid colors, I've been creating beautiful designs. Children will love using these loops, especially if they are budding artists and designers, or kids who love pattern recognition games. If you're a parent, you'll love creating potholders with your kids. With these wonderful loop colors and quality, my potholders have become legendary. I give them as gifts in sets of 4.

Colorful, Fun, and Useful
This kit made the cutest gift for our 7 year old niece who loves crafting! It contained high quality brightly colored fabric bands and a sturdy loom. The how-to instructions were easily followed. She was able to handily make several small potholders to give as gifts to others and to keep for herself to use while making cookies. The value for the price was excellent, as it was both affordable and useful. Would definitely purchase again. Makes a fun and versatile gift!

Highly suggest buying this heirloom quality set.
The best! Love the vintage design, sturdy metal frame and high quality loops. A great gift for kids and adults alike. Over the last few years we have gifted these to each of our children, and now they use them to make gifts for hosts when we are invited to dinners, parties and the like. The gift that keeps on giving. The color varieties and palettes selected for each groupings (pastel, bold, earth tones, etc.) are perfectly curated. Heirloom quality loom, I expect to see these cherished and put to good use for many years to come. Considering saving a few bucks and buying the plastic loom instead? In this instance especially, we encourage you to choose quality over quantity. Having tried the plastic looms and nylon loops with gusto I can tell you they fell quite flat. They fray while weaving, the plastic hooks are difficult to work with and catch on the material, and in the end the pot holders (and many other things you can create with these wonders, hello YouTube tutorials) Come out much smaller once removed from the loom, don’t quite hold their shape and are flimsy, more of a novelty than much else. With this brand you end up getting more bang for your buck, a better product in trade for your time and the tools are designed for use, not just as a (simple and frustrating) toy (like those plastic sets). The metal loom, metal hook and cotton loops guarantee a friendlier user experience and high quality end product. *I am not affiliated with amazon or the brand of this loom in any way (all though, holler if you are looking 😉). I am just a mom who has spent years crafting. Years of trial and error, a waste not want not type, who has had to measure the worth of some lack luster products against the time it would take to get “good use” of them. We look forward to trying their larger looms, and maybe someday even purchasing their beautifully colored loops in bulk.

Nice colors, sturdy loom, good instructions
I bought this for my grandson. I had so much fun making a potholder with him, that when I returned home, I ordered a kit for myself. I used to make potholders when I was a child. These loops are different from the ones I used then. Those were nylon or some other synthetic. These are cotton and feel nicer. However the edges fray - not too much of a problem in the finished potholder, but I haven't tried washing them yet. I ordered also an extra bag of loops. The colors of the loops in the extra bag were not as bright as the ones that came with the kit. The same colors were included, like lime green, but the shade was brighter in the original kit. In any case the potholders are fun to make. You can finish one in less than two hours.

Quality loom, generally good quality loops with beautiful colors
My 6 year old son and I picked up one of those $2 plastic looms and big cheap bag of loops at a hobby store here so he could make Christmas gifts for friends and family. I quickly became frustrated with the warping loom, the ill-fitting and sometimes mismatched material. If you're just making potholders for potholders, they might be fine, but if you're teaching a child to take pride in something they want to give to someone else, the bulk bags weren't working and the plastic loom was making me lose my mind. After doing some research online, I noticed that many different bloggers indicated that they preferred this brand loom and loops. Because I knew metal wouldn't warp during the weaving process and because this loom has gently curved pegs that are designed to help the loops stay on, I decided to try it. I'm very pleased with the purchase. The loom itself is heavy and sturdy. The curved pegs do cut down on the loops falling off. It does sometimes still happen, but not nearly as regularly as was happening with the plastic loom. I have found that using a wide elastic rubberband on one side helps to keep the loops on as you weave. This kit comes with a fair number of loops (I believe it says enough to make 6 holders, but that depends on your color choices), a sturdy metal... um... tool? weaver? I don't know the name. The thing you pull the loops with. It also comes with a small plastic crochet needle for finishing off the edges. It's not the easiest process, but the crochet tool does make it far easier than trying to use the metal tool, which I was doing with the plastic loom. So the crochet needle is a good inclusion. As I have read on some reviews, the loops do have some issues with being frayed. Not a lot of them, but enough that you notice when working. I try to snip the stray pieces off, but I don't know how much unraveling will happen long term. But they are uniform in size and thickness - much preferable to the big bulk bag I bought of a different brand at the hobby store. Most importantly, for me anyway, is the very rich color... They're simply beautiful. I had actually bought 2 bags from the hobby store - one was nylon loops that had great color but were impossible to work with. The other bag was cotton and easier to use, but the colors were dreadful - not uniform, limited choices, not vivid. I honestly feel like it was brown, green, white, blue, yellow, and some of the whites and yellows also had black in them. Visually unappealing. The Harrisville loops are simply beautiful. This set and the replacement loops are much more expensive than the store brands, but in my opinion, the quality mostly compensates. I'd give the product 4.5 stars if I could, just because of the much higher price of the loops compared to others and the fraying issue. To me, it comes down to purpose. For a child (or adult!) wanting to learn, you might try the cheap brands first and see if you have the patience. You'll also much appreciate the upgrade of these looms and loops once you make the move. For the less central gift receivers in my son's life, we'll use the cheaper loops on this much improved loom. For the really special individuals, we'll use these beautiful loops.

Just Buy This One.
This is the loom you want, if you wan to make potholders or potholder-style panels. It is the standard size for most patterns and can hold 18 loops per side. There is no storage for loops included, but a ziploc bag works fine. My loom was made of bright green metal; I am not sure if that is the standard color but I found it to be pretty much in line with the listing and box pictures, for accuracy. The loops are vivid and as pictured. They are made of a soft material that is much better than the "big bag of loops" you frequently see. It also comes with a weaving hook, for pulling loops through the loom, and a crochet hook (labelled 6.5mm) for finishing your edges. Don't waste your time on plastic looms that will break, or headache-inducing measurements making your own... Just get this. It's great. ♥

Blast from the past MADE IN U.S.A.!!!!!
Let's face it. Potholders will get grungy to the point of no return. So, I decided to take a trip down memory lane and make myself these old-fashioned and wonderfully durable and functional woven ones on a loom. They are awesome and I love the colors and that it takes no time at all to string up the loom with colors of your choice and whip up a few for yourself and for gifts. I cannot tell you how awesome it feels to gift some of these and receive a look that tells you the recipient now knows how old you really are because you also probably made these potholders in Girl Scouts in the 50's or 60's! Harrisville makes high quality "Made in the USA" products. The loom you receive is heavy metal and the loops in the kit are consistent in size and color and fit perfectly. The Set comes with everything you need to weave and bind off your potholders. Additional bags of loops are also available in various colors. Making potholders from this kit is just plain old fashioned fun for kids of all ages.

Can you have too many pot holders?
I enjoyed this kit. The loom and hook are made of metal and sturdy. The cotton loops fit perfectly. However I do not think this is a suitable craft for children under ten. Even at that age, adult assistance inserting the last few loops and finishing off would probably be needed. Good value for money if you bear this in mind.

A classic gift.
I bought this as a gift. I should probably get one for myself, for old times' sake.

Long long long to receive
Product was ok but it took almost 2 months to come which is ridiculous. It was a really late Christmas gift.
