eXtremeRate Chameleon Green Purple Joy con Handheld Controller Housing with Full Set Buttons, DIY Replacement Shell Case for Nintendo Switch Joycon & Switch OLED Joy con – Console Shell NOT Included

We recently got our daughter a Nintendo Switch for her birthday and wanted to allow her to personalise it, to stand out a bit and thought these were perfect. The built quality of the covers is great and you cannot tell they are not Nintendo once in place. However a word of warning, they can be very difficult to put together, I am very experienced in carrying out repairs and upgrades on small devices such as phones etc. As such thought this would be the JoyCons are another level, for the most part the swap over process is straight forward, until you get to the triggers. The way these are joined to the casing is not very easy to remove/replace (Nintendo design), underneath is a small micro switch with a metal cover and it is very easy to damage the micro switch if you are not aware. Luckily with my experience I was able to repair the micro switch. But please bare this in mind when buying. Once in place they are fantastic and my daughter loves them, highly recommended just do not expect a 10 minute change over.

So I bought this item thinking it would be really easy to install. Boy was I wrong. But with the help of a YouTube tutorial as it didn’t come with instructions other than the image on the sale screen, I did it! I decided to keep the original buttons as I left they looked nicer. All the pieces it comes with fit really well. I didn’t have to mess with anything to try get it to fit right. It looks amazing in any light and I’m very pleased with it. Came within 12 hours of me ordering it. Amazing company and a quality product

The overall quality of this shell is great. Installation of the components is fairly simple as long as you take your time and read the instructions well. I chose to keep the original black buttons in this shell - the contrast with the gold looks great and, if I'm honest, I didin't like the look of the gold buttons. What I will say, and should probably be expected given it's shiny gold, is that these things LOVE to show fingerprints. They will require regular wiping! I can speak for the quality of the screws and springs etc. as I reused the original ones which take fine in the new shell.

Would have given 0 stars, absolutely rediculous shelling, so fiddly and just awful going to have to get new controls now , waste of money . Impossible to fit !!!!!! Would like a refund

Quite tricky to install, but that's no fault of the seller, but the nature of the product, so I'd definitely recommend it, just not for the faint of heart :) I will say the screw drivers provided were lacking in quality and weren't sufficient, so I ended up going to my local tech repair shop, and they carried out the process for me with the right tools I'm told it was a job that needs 3 hands at some points, so a helper might be good when installing! Do your research and make sure you're ready to change them, it's a process, but oh boy is my switch pretty now! 🥰

Great joycon shells. I've paired them up with the purple/blue coloured ones that they also sell, and they look sick af and go together really well. I'd recommend picking up the purple/blue if you have just the 2 joycons since purple and blue blend much better, but it's still a great combo if you have 4. Good way of personalizing my switch

The shells fit perfectly and are fitted easily enough. The chameleon effect looked really good too. In my opinion though the shells look too plasticky and I wish I had gone for a different colour in the soft touch range.

Have your kids caused stress over the last few days? Give them this and you'll feel like punishment has been served. As someone who takes apart and builds electronics all the time this was a fiddly swap and would not wish the amount of stress on anyone however the product is great and fits very well. The only issue I have is the - button is a tad tight and no matter the amount of tinkering i can resolve this issue.

The reviews that say the provided screwdriver and original screws are terrible, are right. I did the right joycon in about an hour and a half. It wasn’t too difficult, just fiddly (recommend having tweezers on hand), except now the screws are stuck for life. There’s no way they’re ever coming out again. Replace the original ones you take out with the new, replacement ones the shell comes with. TAKE IT SLOW, and you should be fine. It’s not something you can try to speed through. The end result is quite pretty.

This is sooo beautiful to me the purple and blue. They gave me all the tools and extra screws I needed to customize my joycons. The feel is so smooth. The shell is compatible like it’s supposed to be. The size of all buttons and pieces are accurate. The quality is amazing. Definitely ordering more things from them. I watched a video from YouTube that helped me customize accurately now I feel like a pro lol.

Tout est fourni ! Visserie, boutons (sauf celui de verrouillage joycon sur manette), ressorts de gachettes etc. Manque juste une notice pour remonter l'ensemble mais c'est honnêtement faisable sans aide, 4 vis à monter. Seul point négatif : les boutons illisibles (j'ai remis les originaux car ça fait plus propre et meilleur grip au toucher) visserie adaptative pour la coque. Attention cependant aux tournevis fournis, ils déforment l'empreinte des têtes de vis si vous insistez trop et rendent le démontage impossible. Seule solution alors : limer le bout du tournevis pour le rendre plat et permettre une meilleure prise dans l'empreinte et ça se démonte de nouveau ! Pour ce qui est des coloris "chromés", la finition est belle et de qualité. Par contre qui dit chrome dit rayures à la longue, il vous faudra chouchouter vos manettes au risque de les rayer constamment.. Je valide !

I've pimped out my joycons (2 sets) and pro controller with skin + buttons and the joycons with two different sets of LED's, loving it all from ExtremeRate so far. For the case / buttons I mixed them with my other set, the Blue/Purple Chameleon and it goes together so well
