Kids loved this!
The media could not be loaded. This was a gift from Christmas that we just decided to try out this weekend camping. We spent the night camping in a blizzard and the kids were so excited for popcorn! I worried about the thin metal, and wooden top handles, but they were no issue at all. Butter and kernels is all we used and it worked great! Kids loved it! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Easy, lightweight setup, super fun camping activity.

Amazing
This is an amazing popper. It's great over the campfire at a great price. The popcorn popped over a fire is at its finest flavor. It's a good size with adjustable handle. We had a roaring fire and it handled the heat great and popped in seconds.Highly recommend

Grab your pliers and put on your rapid motion arm!
I have been having a lot of fun with this popcorn popper! I first had to learn the proper way of using it, however!Make sure the lid is very secure before you begin popping your corn. This is where I found pliers to be necessary. The top pops off sometimes! I suppose my shaking method wasn't perfect at first, but I also believe the metal clips are not very strong. When working the popper over fire, try to be FAST! Also be smooth with your motions. You'll be SLIDING the popper! SLIDE it over and over, non-stop, even if you don't yet hear popping. Move in the direction of the handle: back and forth, back and forth! If you shake left to right and right to left you're going to make a big funny mess! Even funnier if you bounce it up and down!Make sure to use enough oil. It's probably going to be more than you think you need. I started with just 2 tablespoons of oil, and burned the heck out of those kernels! That left a bumpy surface for the next batches! Just put enough in the first time and you'll be golden. Coat the bottom of the popper with canola or sunflower, or even a blend marketed for popcorn. You probably need about 1/4 cup. Don't go overboard, either, of course.Once you start popping have containers ready to collect it! If you're doing it right, popcorn shoold start to overflow the popper when you've popped 2/3 to 3/4 of the kernels. It'll be lots of fun and you'll make a tasty nutritious snack! One more thing: the manufactures give a description of the size of the fire you need to make proper popcorn with their popper. I'm pretty sure the directions are meant to be a joke because they call for a firepit something like 3ft wide and suggest flames 4ft high! Lol!

So Awful. Broken handle, cheap horrible graphic design, sharp metal
Total disappointment. Do not be mistaken! The reviews for this product include reviews for a better model that is used on stovetop, so that artificially increases the stars for this open fire model. We thought a popper for an open fire pit would provide a fun family activity, which it would. This product was packed tightly in an outside brown box that was fine. The actual product box was dirty, covered in old dust, ripped, and dented. Also, the graphics are completely different with cheap and horrible graphics, branding and design that looks like a cheap drawing of a zany cartoon face, not an old timey "Great Northern Co." popcorn logo. All of that would be secondary, if the super lightweight cheap product was even usable, which it is not. The handle was off, with cheap dried up glue on the metal pole. The metal end that attaches to lid was brushed, rough and with sharp edges. One can easily slice their hand (as I see another reviewer actually did and shared!) on several places, but none more so than where the handle attaches to the cheap horrible lid! You have to force these metal pegs in these holes and can easily slice yourself on the thin metal lid. This item is such a disappointment that I was compelled to share this, our first review after 20 years.Would give ZERO STARS but unable to give less than 1 star.Do not buy this product! I am still looking for a replacement item to give as a gift.
