550 FireCord by Live Fire Gear gives you the ability to always be prepared to make fire in any emergency situation, perfect for everyday carry (EDC)! 550 FireCord is the next evolution in outdoor gear preparedness. 550 Parachute Cord or "Paracord", has been the standard go-to for most cordage needs as it has a ton of utility applications. Now, imagine if you could also use your paracord as fire tinder. Enter 550 FireCord, the fire preparedness solution that will ensure you are always prepared! 550 FireCord has 7 strands of Paracord + 1 strand of color coded FireCord to be used as fire tinder. 550 FireCord starts easily, burns very hot, and lasts for a long period of time. 550 FireCord is also waterproof, UV, mildew and rot resistant. 550 FireCord comes in 25', 50' and 100' lengths in multiple colors.

A controllable burn and easy to handle.
My wife had concerns about my ordering of this cordage. After burn testing it, I feel confident braiding the Firecord into my bracelets and fobs. Also, I am impressed with the burn performance. The internal fire string burns very nicely when freed from the braid; however, you can melt the cordage and control the burn while it is only lightly exposed. This makes it very easy to terminate or connect lengths of cordage just as yo do with normal 550 cordage.

Excellent product, lit with a single strike.
I pulled about 4" of the inner kindling line out from the cord, used my blade to fray it into a ball of fibers, and lit it with a single shower of sparks from my Doan striker. It burned long enough and hot enough to easily ignite any dry kindling I added to it. I think would take this over magnesium as an initial kindling source any day. It burned longer and was more controlled. The Mg is certainly hotter and it may be useful in wet conditions to spark a secondary ignition source but, for my tests, I liked the FireCord the best. I only mention the Doan striker by name because, like this firecord, it actually works! Done makes true mil-spec. (amazon part #B0079SEGO2)

Great for fire-starting! Will YOU like or hate the smell?
This was purchased by my husband for him and my daughter to make survival bracelets. The two of them liked everything about product EXCEPT the smell. My husband finds the smell unpleasant. My daughter didn't like that the smell—which reminds her of essential oils—transferred from the bracelet to her skin. I personally find the smell pleasant, like the natural smell of an evergreen. I was impressed with how well the inner cord burned, providing a bright, slow, odorless burn that would definitely work well for fire starting. Bottom line, my husband would definitely purchase again for the inner cord's impressive fire-starting properties.

Definitely a Keeper
This does what it says it does. I cut a one inch piece off of the cord and pulled out the red fiber. I mashed it down with my knife and spread it out. When I hit it with my ferro rod fire starter it caught fire and I used it to light a candle. Sweet!

Burns slow
Over priced but I'm impressed with the burn rate on the wax jute cord inside. I wish they had more patterns and better color patterns of the ones they do to choose from, if they did I'd buy more if the price got better too

Fantastic product!
Frankly, what's not to like about this product? 550 paracord with an inner core that lights to help you start a fire. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or a paracord weaver for profit, Firecord makes your life a little better.

Eh
Good paracord but the ‘live fire’ aspect doesn’t work too well..not worth the price
