Mayhew Tools 61019 Punch and Chisel Set, 19-Piece, Black Oxide Finish

These are high quality US made tools at a fair price. There is definitely some pride in ownership that can't be found when buying the cheapest tools that work. These are the sort of tools you can pass on to your grandchildren for them to proudly use, knowing that you used them. Mayhew makes punches and chisels for the expensive tool trucks, but I prefer to buy them here, directly from the manufacturer without the tool truck markup.

Nice set, metal is a little soft, needs more tempering. About the same quality as harbor freight

Just received my tools today. After looking at them I found my chisels have burs on the edges. They should have made sure the burs were removed before packing them up. I've noticed that there's a big difference between quality from 1970 and today. Companies are being more slack in the finished product. More in a hurry these days vs back in the 70s .

Fantastic set. Save your money and buy these over the tool truck brands. I am very impressed so far.

Made in USA and it shows. What else can I say? They work very well and are durable. The pouch is nice as it makes it easier to keep them in order. Would definitely recommend and would buy again if needed. This assortment will cover most common needs for most mechanical work, but you might need to purchase other individual items for some purposes. This is an excellent buy!

They arrived in a timely manner and seem to be made of quality material, after using them for a few weeks in the shop they have held an edge very well...

Had the first set show up with 2 of the same 3/32 solid punches, but missing the largest pin punch. I requested a replacement and had the first one sent back and second set received all within less than a week. The second set had some stitching on the roll cut by some of the bigger chisels in shippping. I really liked how tight the second punch set rolled up though. The Velcro was in the right spot for a tight finish after rolling up the set. So I decided to restitch the cut threads myself with some heavy dry waxed leather work thread. I’ll still give this set 5 stars because the punches and chisels are of good quality and seem quite hard when used on regular steel ect. I Agree with other comment, paint them orange or red

Great value from a trusted brand, but I have found some of the chisels to be a bit on the soft side... the punches on the other hand have held up extremely well
