USA Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 (40AS0090US)

I’m no tech wizard or computer wiz. I have a simple ThinkPad T16 that I use for my “home” computer and laptop when I travel. I’ve used ThinkPads for years, many years, and I’ve lived those years with cords and connectors scattered and strewn all over, behind, and under my desk. I’ve used a hub from time to time for a couple of simple things like extending to another monitor. I’ve stayed away from a dock because I was nervous about them, didn’t really understand.Stumbled onto a couple of YouTube videos and decided I’ve had enough of the cord chaos. I figured I’ve had ThinkPads forever so I’d take the plunge with this Lenovo ThinkPad Dock. Got it, opened it up, put it on the desk and started plugging in: Keyboard, Mouse, Webcam, Conference Speaker, 2 Monitors and wired my internet in by Ethernet. Plugged in the power, plugged ONE USB-C Cable into my laptop, turned on the power… and it worked. Seamlessly. Effortlessly. No catch, no problem, it just worked. How often does THAT happen??? One adjustment, the only adjustment was identifying my monitors and extending them in the order I want. That’s it.If you’ve been intimidated by technology or stalling and living with cable chaos - stop it (unless, of course, you just like it). This is the simplest solution I’ve ever seen. Flawless out of the box, even for a non-tech guy. It just works.

I've gone through 3-4 different usb-c docks in an attempt to find something that consistently works with my hardware setup and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. This dock seems to be the best value for what it is. It's well-supported on Fedora 42, all the components work, everything I plug into the usb ports behaves normally. I also like that it comes with its own power brick. The way I see it, if you're using a docking station with your laptop, it defeats the purpose if you have to crawl under your desk and unplug the power supply every time you undock it.In all, an excellent hub that solved multiple problems for me. Highly recommended.

I have become spoiled using 2 external monitors with another laptop I used for several years. Current laptops' commuting abilities make them usable for me for all my needs whether in the office, traveling, or in class. However, the small single laptop screen is not as easy to view with my eyes as it was 10 years ago. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, Gen 7 based on previous good performance of an earlier Thinkpad. This docking station works well, but like most new laptops it connects via the super/lightening/all in one USB C connection. I would prefer the older style connector, but this most be the way PC makers want to go. The setup was fairly quick and worked almost like plug and play with my two existing monitors. I had to invest a few minutes to set up the monitor displays as I wanted, but this probably the case with any docking station. I looked at the cheaper knockoff docking stations, but was not impressed with their reviews. Some also do not charge the laptop which makes them almost worthless. This Lenovo branded dock was certainly not cheap and I probably paid a premium for the name. So far it is working as advertised to charge my laptop and seamlessly switch to the external monitors when I plug it into my laptop.

I use this product with the X1 Carbon 6th generation. It works great and I love having a button I can press to turn on the laptop without having to open the screen. My only issue with this product is that the description at the bottom contained the following text: (Dock has the ability to support DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 for max 1 x 4K @ 60 Hz display or 2 x 4K @ 30 Hz displays, but the real video output would depend on the system’s output). This is not true. This product is only capable of 1 monitor above 1080p or 2 monitors at 1080p. The next model up is capable of dual monitors above 1080. I use this with a dual monitor setup, but can't take advantage of using both monitors on the same device. It's not the end of the word as I have a work around, but I did purchase this under the impression it would support two 4k monitors. My workaround is that I use this device to hookup to one 4k monitor and then I use the second USB-C or HDMI out port on the X1 to connect to the second monitor.

A lot cheaper than traditional docking stations (important since I'm paying for this out of my own pocket); and pretty convenient (just connect 1 cable, which allows me to place the laptop anywhere). I've used up all its ports except the HDMI port; and it works great.Out of the box, I had issues with it. It detects my USB 3.1 hub (with 3 external USB drives) but wouldn't allow me to access 2 of them (the one that it allowed me to access created data corruption; had to reformat the drive); it also recognized my ethernet cable attached but wouldn't transmit any data out of it. After updating its firmware, it's working great.My laptop is a Thinkpad T14 gen 4.

Love it. I use the same set up at my office at my company and my office at home, each with a 32” BenQ UHD professional 4K display. One USBC cable to plug in and out. Works seamlessly. Would buy again and recommend in a heartbeat.

Dock connected to my computers for everything EXCEPT video output. Tested with multiple computers (Thinkpad X1 Yoga Gen 7, X13 Gen 5, and P1 Gen 4) and multiple monitors with same result.Tried updating firmware, it was able to update all the firmware except the displayport hub that is responsible for video output, where it reported "Update DP hub FW... Fail" as shown in the screenshot.I returned it and ordered a replacement, which arrived with the exact same issues.After looking very closely at the product photos, I realized that the USB-C cable I received both times does NOT match the cable pictured, both in the Amazon listing and on the Lenovo support site. The correct cable in the pictures appears to have longer connectors with two little holes at the base on each side.For testing, I borrowed the correct cable from a ThinkPad Universal USB-C Dock (40AY) at my office - when using the correct cable, this dock works perfectly, video outputs and all. Somehow, this dock seems to be shipping with the wrong cable.I'll be returning this 40AS again and this time, buying a 40AY dock instead.

These do work with the Lenovo ThinkPads, but they are expensive. I have had some fail, but do carry a warranty. They serve the purpose, but do cost more than similar products.

I bought the stocking station as a hub for my daughter’s Lenovo laptop set up, which includes a monitor and many peripherals. It has been very reliable and has shown to be very simple to set up and use. I highly recommend this unit for those setting up computer workstation at home for study or work.

Sure it is expensive, and has some issues with display not showing up (fixed by updating firmware and plugging out/in the laptop USBC cable). But apart from that it works pretty good with all the devices i have connected so far. My 32 inch 2560x1440 LG monitor works like a charm at 144hz using displayport.
