Pyrex Glass Bakeware Pie Plate 9" x 1.2"

I used this today to make a chocolate pie. Worked great blind baking the crust. Yummm.

Wonderful baking dish for pies or apple crisp or whatever, was wrapped well for shipping. I gave as a gift, was happily received!

We use these plates for everything. Aside from the obvious uses, we will eat off these when we want to make a salad, pot roast, pasta, ribs, pizza, etc... Sometimes you just need a plate that you can curl up on the couch with and your dinner is not going to make a mess everywhere. They are great to microwave things on because the pie plate does not get flaming hot and then we just transfer the item to the plates we are using, that do get molten hot in the microwave but don't heat the food. I tried to purchase more of these in regular stores but they seem to be going to a different design with handles. 10-15 years ago I could get sets of these for a reasonable price. Now they are very expensive, if you can find one or two in a store. I was able to grab 3 on Amazon, of the Pyrex brand, and several more in another brand. I am buying as many as I can before they are gone.

pyrex is a great product

My need for buying a new Pyrex pie disk is atypical. I already have a super heavy thick heirloom Pyrex pie dish that I use for its intended purpose of baking pies. A few years ago I bought a second more modern dish at a thrift store (but was still made the old way) to use as a cat food dish. The size and shape of this dish is ideal for that purpose because it is easy to clean and the sloped edges keep the food in the dish without the cat’s whiskers touching anything – cats don’t like their whiskers to touch anything while they are eating. That dish unfortunately shattered into a million pieces when dropped by a curious youngster one day. I understand that the newer way they make these dishes is that they won’t break as easily but there is a tradeoff and sure enough the new dish comes with a ton of instructions that seem to defeat much of the reason why people used to buy a Pyrex dish in the first place, such as to avoid extreme temperature changes, not to us in the broiler, never place directly on a countertop, etc. Even though I am not using it in the kitchen I’m concerned that the newer dishes don’t seem to be as versatile as they used to be and for that reason I can’t say I love it.

As it is made of glass it is easy to clean. It was larger than I wanted so good value and therefore makes bigger pies

This is a standard Pyrex excellent quality pie plate that was delivered promptly. The biggest value-added feature was that the price was slightly lower than I have seen in stores and it was delivered to my door so I didn't have to go searching for a vendor who carried the product.

Basic pie plate. Serves its purpose at a great price.

Prefer the plate design over this pie dish but still very usable and reliable
