What model ram can I buy to upgrade this to 8gb?

Hi John, I just bought these ones yesterday:https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005LDLVAO/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1448736750&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=crucial+8gb+kit&dpPl=1&dpID=51S%2BBil3u3L&ref=plSrchBased on the qnap forums, is proven to work.

Can I run this with only 2 drives and add 2 more drives (of the same or different size) later when I'm ready to expand?

Yes but it depends on how you want to add those 2 drives. Add them and create a separate raid array? Yes. But if you want to expand the initial RAID Array then no. Of course you don't have to setup raid at all but that is kinda the point of this device is to have that redundancy of raid.

Will it reboot after power loss or does the power button need to be manually pushed?

Yes, under 'Power' in the control panel there is a tab for 'Power Recovery' and you can set the following options ... 'Resume the server to the previous power-on or power-off state', 'Turn on the server automatically' and 'The server should remain off'.
