DEWALT Miter Saw, 12-Inch, Double Bevel, Compound, XPS Cutline, 15-Amp (DWS716XPS)

This saw is AMAZING !!! I used a laser for a cut-line on my old saw... This uses a regular light and it's SHADOW is the cut line. it's WAY WAY Better and easier to see. ...my problem is that I forget to turn off the light after making a bunch of cuts. ...would be even better if the light would automatically come on while the blade is turning. This saw is also VERY ACCURITE and not too heavy

I have used DeWalt tools for years. Although made in Mexico, the workmanship is excellent as is the form and function. I read the reviews of actual professional craftsmen and was convinced it was a good investment. The features are many such as vertical and horizontal miter that go up to 50 degrees. The 15-amp motor enables one to cut thick lumber. The built-in safety features allow for better safety when operating the saw. Another big feature is the blade is easily replaceable. I would recommend this saw to anyone, pro or DIY, great machine, decent price and safe saw.

I had hoped this saw would be as good as I heard it was. It is. Only needed one very small adjustment to the cutting blade perpendicular to the table surface. Easily done. The detent stops were dead on out-of-the-box. One thing I like about this saw is that when moved off one detent angle for another, when coming back to that previous angle the cut is exactly where it was before. I.e. the repeat angle cuts are perfect - as they should be. It's a very accurate and robust saw. Well worth the money paid it. 5-stars

I am a master carpenter and I only use Dewalt chop saws. I have 2, this one and the 12 inch slider. I run a saw every day all week and there's not a better saw for professional work in my opinion and I've tried all the top name brands over the past 25 years. They typically last me 3 years before the main bearing starts to give out but that's a lot of hours on any tool. The led shadow line on this saw is definitely worth the extra 25 bucks, I will not buy another saw without that feature. It's more than just a cut line, it lights up everything on the deck. It's perfect if you're cutting prefab materials. Makes it easy to see the pencil line on darker stained crown and base. If you're a professional you already know about Dewalt saws but if you're an average person looking for a great saw, this is it and will probably last you a lifetime.

This saw is heavy duty, made of good quality materials, and is easy to use. The dust collection feature and the blade light or two nice features add additional value to an already great product. This saw cuts through two by fours like butter and with very accurate precision are used to angle cuts to make a picture frame with a perfect fit. DeWalt power and quality is hard to beat!

40 years ago Dewalt was at its best. But it started to decline, continued to decline, and I wrote it off. After so long, being so highly rated I gave them another try. BAD IDEA. Immediately apparent was Devalt's disregard for buyers. In a box big enough to fit an open newspaper, I found a crumpled manual; in 3 languages, with thin paper, poor illustrations. Their material holding clamp is more than flimsy, with rough travel, and thread that binds, it's idiotic. You have to screw it down most of the way for what is usually 1.5" material or less. Then to remove it, you must unscrew it most of the way, to repeat the process next time. There was no next time. I threw it in the trash, bought a quick adjusting clamp, and notched the plywood on which the saw is fastened. The saw itself is not bad. A brand new machine, but the miter and bevel were off, and I had to adjust them. Do you have to adjust the wheel alignment on a new car? It's a 15 amp, but it slowed noticeably cutting 3/4" plywood. I've used saws that would go through 3/4 like it wasn't there. To be fair I haven't used a saw bigger than 10" before. This is a 12. The greater area of cut could (mostly?) explain it. I may be focusing on the negatives. The saw is probably average, and gets 3 stars. Dewalt's consideration for buyers, one star. I won't return the saw. But I'm sorry I bought it. I'm again writing Dewalt off. UPDATE 11-24-23 bringing the saw down to 2 stars from 3 because some of the instructions in the manual are wrong or incomplete - for instance, removing the blade, on page 5. I'm really busy fixing up the new place, and I have to waste time reading instructions from incompetents. Taking the company dewalt down to zero stars. UPDATE 5-14-24: I must improve my rating. I have use the saw many times, and it has been quite good.

I purchased the DWS780 version of this saw four years ago to build my new workshop. It has operated flawlessly. I love the CUTLINE LED light feature. The 780 has the sliding feature, and now with my woodshop done, the slide forces me to set it 10 inches from the wall, so I bought this saw - THE SAME SAW WITHOUT THE SLIDE, and now will sell the 780. The 716XPS is a great saw for my current needs, and the 780 was a great saw for my construction needs, I cut those wide boards with ease and accurately. I wanted the same accuracy INSIDE my woodshop. Most of my portable tools are DeWalt. I am very happy with the tool line.

They say the light its a big improvement. I say its not im a trimmer and the accuracy its the most important. When I use the light it show small line but when you aproch the piece to cut i goes a little bigger. It its ok if you don't need precision 1 mm plus or less but if you want to be exactly must to push down the blade until it touch the piece of wood. Otherwise its not 100%. I think its a good machine, its not sheap, strong you can cut large pieces of baseboard. My only concern its the light its not accurate 100% it needs to touch the piece to be accurate. But normally thas the way to I do without the ligh.

Great saw and happy with it.
