LEGO Architecture White House (21006)

My grandson has been a Lego fan since he was 5 years old. When an older friend of his brought this White House into school he fell in love with it so my wife and I bought it for his 6th birthday. Since the recommended age was twice his for building this project I was sure that I would be doing most of the construction with him. To my disappointment and surprise he insisted on doing it himself. Studying the pictures in the wordless instruction sheet and comparing the pieces, he was able to replicate the drawings. The assembly of the section that he was working on looked exactly like the illustration in the instruction sheet. 560 pieces later he completed construction without help. The pride and satisfaction on his face when he called us into see it was absolutely priceless. The drawings were simple and broke down the construction into small easily duplicated steps. There was a simple logic to the construction and as the building took shape he became more focussed and patient in his search for the pieces that matched the drawings. Not once did he become frustrated or had major difficulty. Although it is a bit pricey, I would recommend this Lego White House for any child who likes to work alone and enjoys solving puzzles.

This was my 6 year old daughter's first foray into LEGOs. As a kid, I loved LEGOs and spent countless hours with them. We, or I should say I, struggled with what her first set should be as I wanted it to be something recognizable, have enough pieces to be challenging, but not too much so, and also have good instructions so that it would not be frustrating. This kit fit the bill exactly. I was a little hesitant about the 12+ age rating, but I liked the piece count (560) and the looks of the kit as opposed to the others of the architectural series. She did need just a little help with a couple of pieces that do not fit traditionally and it took her several afternoons to complete it, but that was mostly due to getting distracted and moving on to something else. As far as the looks of the White House go, I agree with other reviewers that it is a relatively accurate representation. It isn't impressively sized, but it has a few nice touches. The booklet is nice with some facts about the White House, but that was really just a bonus. I also thought that this set was priced at a good value as far as LEGO sets are concerned. As I said, for my purposes, it was perfect. I highly recommend it.

With the construction of this Lego Architecture depiction of the White House I again committed the mortal sin of rushing through the instructions as incorrectly using the wrong pieces and skewing the foundation of this historic piece. Again I discovered my faux pas and had to go back to correct my mistakes. Again I saw that certain illustrations did not show the true count of spaces to place a piece. Upon inspection in later illustrations it showed I placed the wrong pieces in the wrong place. Again it was my fault for not noticing my mistakes and continuing to build on a faulty foundation Upon learning of my mistakes I had to deconstruct and correct my problems. Again to all reading this, haste does make waste. Going further again I found a problem as I discovered missing pieces. Again I searched the web and requested the missing pieces and unfortunately construction was in abeyance. A week and a half later I received the pieces and 45 minutes later the building was indeed finished. The final product is accurate and of great detail. As an accurate historian I would have liked to have the West Wing added to the structure. I enjoyed constructing this historic piece and will continue to build further pieces in this series. The White House is a very accurate depiction of American architecture.

He likes to collect things, got him this as a gift and he really enjoyed it, helped him built it following easy to read instructions. He has it on display and said bring more, I told him, I'll bring another everytime I visit. From my perspective, easy to build following instructions came out beautifully, great for Lego fans A great collector/display item When I was little, I always wanted a Lego room, and still do and plan on it with all the Legos I can find... once I make it rich!!!

This is a great little set. The detail on it is really pretty great capturing the look of the White House really faithfully. It even has the lamp at the main entrance. But if your looking for a model with a lot of variety in the building process this really isn't it. There is a lot of repetition building the windows and columns. Because the model is a little bit on the small side, there are a lot of really tiny pieces that are a little difficult to pull apart if, like me, you sometimes gloss over parts of the instructions. But I can't really knock the set for that.

My younger son and I do his Lego projects together. He's 9 and I'm 40, and I think we both have just as much fine. The quality of Lego's is always fantastic, and we've never had a missing part. The White House is very detailed and accurate and looks great sitting on his display shelf. The cool thing was the discussions it led to while building it, like the fire at the original White House in 1814, which led to this newer version (of course it's seen many improvements over the years).

Purchased for my 8 yr old. He was able to do it all by himself. Warning: the directions are printed on a black background so the black pieces are printed to look dark gray. We figured this out immediately when he couldn't find his pieces. None of the bags are numbered but it is still easy enough for a typical 8 yr old to put together. Must have good fine motor skills because there are lots of really small pieces. Looks great completed :)

Unser Sohn ist ein absoluter Lego-Freak und hat seine Mama damit angesteckt. Auch sie baut immer gerne mit und da Lego sich hat was tolles einfallen lassen, Architektur, bekam 'sie' dann mal endlich ihr eigenes Lego. Leider, wie so oft, ziemlich klein, ..aber super.Lego ist halt was für Liebhaber!
