Digimon, digital monsters, Digimon are the champions!
Never had one of these when I was a kid and only had a Tamagotchi, so that's the closest thing I can compare this to (they're both from the same company so they're fairly similar). First off, the dimensions listed here are entirely wrong, or rather they are the dimensions of the packaging and not the digivice itself which is much smaller. Not that I thought the digivice would be 7 inches tall and 5.5 inches long, I just thought it was weird seeing those numbers listed. The digivice itself is not much larger than an original Tamagotchi, just a little thicker and a rectangle shape instead of a rounded egg shape. The game plays pretty similarly to that of Tamagotchi in that they share a lot of the same features just this one focuses more on training your monster to battle than just simply feeding it and keeping it happy/disciplined to keep it alive. You can also raise 2 monsters at the same time on a single digivice. Something odd I noticed was that the digivice is a bit quiet when compared to Tamagotchi as the beeps are not as loud as those. The screen also turns off after a bit when left alone to save power, but was a bit jarring as I'm used to always seeing my little creature moving around on the screen. It turns back on at a press of a button or when your monster needs some care though, so don't worry that the battery may have died. Speaking of, there is a dedicated low battery screen that shows when it's time to get a new one. I only got the one digivice so I'm not able to connect it to others personally, but according to the instruction manual this version is compatable with the following: Digital Monster DigiVice (1997), DigiVice Ver.15th (2015), D-3 DigiVice Ver.15th (2016), and Digital Monster Ver.20th DigiVice (2017 Japan, 2019 other markets). It's nice that these are backwards compatable unlike the recent re-release of Tamagotchi Connection which can only communicate with the re-release versions. Unlike Tamagotchi, this has the option to wake up a sleeping monster for 15 minutes to take care of it like cleaning poop or feeding before it goes back to sleep. You can also have your monster take a 3 hour nap during the day as a sort of pause function which is nice, though doing so makes them evolve slower according to the manual. There doesn't seem to be an official way to pause the digivice like some Tamagotchi have and the trick to leave it on the clock set screen doesn't work as it will eventually set itself and go back to the main screen making time pass. Your best options are to make your monsters take a nap for the limited 3 hours, or set the clock to their bedtime and make them sleep for their 8-10 that they do that varies by their life stage. Overall I would recommend this if you're looking to get a virtual pet that is a bit more involved than a Tamagotchi. The price on this was also pretty decent given that it does more than Tamagotchi and spare batteries can be found cheap here on Amazon.

Great for Digimon fans or if you want a vpet in general
I don't think I can add anything new to what has already been said. Just keep in mind this doesn't really have a Pause feature unlike the Digimon X (which in this Amazon page is sold as a color rather than a separate product, you can know which one is it by the huge X on it) which you can pause by just sending your Digimon to sleep during the day to freeze it. For the normal 20th Anniversary Digimon if you send your digimon to sleep during the day it'll just take a 3 hour break. If you want to pause it you have to change the time to its sleeping time or just place back the paper tab on the battery and after removing it again, selecting LOAD to restore the most recent state before placing the tab (the game saves each minute so it's fine)

Perfect for this time of year
I never had these before and I'm glad I have them now. With whats going on, this novelty will surely give you some hours away from the real life world and part of your troubles. A virtual pet is the perfect accessory/toy most people will ever need! After waiting about 2 weeks for them to come by I can happily say it was worth the wait. Messing around with the both I got, (T.Yellow & Blue) It's pretty cute to raise 2 of them at the same time! It feels so nostalgic like the Tamagotchis.

Classic Digimon v-pet celebrating 20 years with lots of additions.
I grew up with tamagotchi and digimon in the late 90s and finding out not only tamagotchi got a rerelease in the states of a vintage version celebrating 20 years but also digimon as well. The Digimon version 20th goes above and beyond a simple re-release. Back in the 90s there was 5 different version that were released with different growth trees. The 20th edition includes ALL 5 devices in one!! Now only that but there are secret extra eggs to unlock too. Thats over 115 possible pets you can raise. They also included a npc battle mode so you dont have to battle other people version to unlock some forms. Whats more amazing, they added the ability to raise 2 digimons in one device. Not only this gives you the chance to raise 2 monsters without buying a second one but also lets you merge some of them together to create new jogress forms. All this for only $19.99 which is amazing. I heard the same version in japan was like $40. I also found out about Digimon X in japan and that looks so cool. I do hope it comes out here and good sales can do it.

Very nostalgic
It was just like I remember the original ones being. Very nostalgic. It was funny because my 8 year old loved it too. Even though the graphics aren’t great, it’s a great way to show my son how much care a puppy needs. Maybe then he will stop asking constantly lol

Perfect for fans of Digimon, v-pets and 90s nostalgia
Just as I remembered it all those years ago. Taking it out of the package was easier than expected, and it came right out. If you're thinking this V-pet is just a rerelease, you'd be dead wrong. In addition to every Digimon I could think of on this device, as well as the Dock N Rock feature allowing you to connect it to every Digivice that supports it. Oh, I forgot to mention Jogress and the ability to take care of 2 Digimon at the same time. Over all, the Digimon 20th Anniversary Digivice is worth getting if your a fan of Digimon, V-pets or just wanting a little bit of 90s nostalgia.

childhood dream come true
by the time i was into digimon, these were hard to come by. i had one of those show looking "digivices" but never the original virtual pet. i was surprised (and shocked honestly) to see that it was the 20th anniversary of the franchise. i am sure it's a little more expensive than they were on release day in 1999 yet after having it for a week, i think it is worth it. the box makes you feel like you've unearthed an unopened toy from the 90's and unless it didn't open with a special screen saying it was the 20th, i would've thought it was an original. though i am sure some digi-purists will be quick to tell me the difference.

Perfect for Digimon enthusiasts
Well received. Very fast delivery. It only took 5 days from USA to here Malaysia. I bought 3 units and I’m very satisfied. I believe most of the top comments have explained on the new features of this device. What I can say is that all these changes wouldn’t change the gameplay by a lot. Sure there are noticeably additions like solo battle/tag but its there for a very obvious reason, we are all adults now and most of us just want to enjoy our childhood without affecting our daily productivity. Another changes is that our digimon will evolve faster now and I’m glad they made its pace faster. Thank you Bandai

Not exactly as I remembered.
This is a newer "20th Anniversary" edition of the original Digivice which has some differences. -You can select all the different eggs on a single device which used to be exclusive to the different versions. -The stages are much faster now with evolutions happening in hours instead of days. -The training minigame has changed and now requires you to mash buttons to power up. -You can now raise 2 digimon at once in case you get bored waiting on the first one. -You can now battle by yourself against waves of npc digimon and yes this counts towards your wins. -And perhaps the best thing of all is you don't lose your digimon when the battery dies, it saves to internal memory which you can later reload after you change the batteries. It's a great quality of life update to the original digivice but it's not the same one for those who just want to relive the nostalgia.

Neat little device
It is a nice small thing, reasonable price especially giving how much other ones were, did take a week cause usa based but was a week early then Amazon's estimate date. Personally I think it's a good thing to teach consistency of taking care of a pet as if you research just who the Digimon is and if a mega level as you pretty much gotta make barely any care mistakes which are not feeding it, train to keep it fit and not giving a blanket in the night time to sleep. It's got a clip to attach to a keyring and package has a instruction manual that is pritty helpful with how to care your Digimon or the controls.
