It's a good quality plastic and should last through his college adventure. Love how the tall, narrow design lets it fit into weird little corners, or even those tiny wardrobes that they give dorm rooms. Definitely better than those small square ones - that size eats up too much space, believe it or not. Space matters when cramming three to a room. Also, fits in the car great, can ride on top of all the luggage, or squish a little. It's flexible, that way. Was clued into this by NYTimes Wirecutter recommendation - Thank you!

I bought it so my mother, who walks with a cane, could carry her laundry around more easily. It worked well in that regard: it was light, and being a flexible material, it was easy to hold onto with one hand. Eventually the handles broke from the strain of being lifted/dragged/tugged, however: it took 8 YEARS for this to happen. I feel we got our moneys worth, and its time to buy another

Sturdy doesn't break easily.Affordable can hold a lot of clothes and loads, and you can use it for multiple different things

I've had this for about 4 years. It's pretty good but one of the handles broke right in the middle a couple years ago. For some reason the other handle never tore, which is good because I would've had to throw it away if it did. If I had to use both handles for whatever reason then this would've been a bad purchase, but since I can one-arm it easily it's still been good for me.

It’s great. I use it for my laundry chute and it’s great because it’s light and bendable. Makes it easy to pull down off shell.

I do an embarrassingly excessive amount of research before I buy anything. This was true for laundry baskets as well, and I ended up going with this one. I wanted something tall and sturdy, but convenient for me to drag across the house to the laundry machine. This basket fits the bill perfectly. It’s strong, tall, and flexible. The holes in the sides are perfect for grabbing ahold of when you unceremoniously dump a large amount of dirty laundry upsideown to sort on the floor of your laundry room. It’s not a beautiful basket I’d want out when guests visit, but it’s functional and the perfect basket for a closet.

I really loved this basket. Living on the third floor with the laundry room in the basement, I needed something tough to be able to handle my weekly laundry trips up and down the stairs. This basket was perfection, and it took 5 years for the handles to finally give. I wrapped them in duct tape for a few extra months, but eventually one gave completely. Doesn't matter - this basket was excellent! It gets five stars from me for being the workhorse it was!

This showed up with absolutely no packaging, and dirty from being on the truck. It ended up being too tall for my use so I figured I would return it. When you are allowed to return at Kohls or Whole Foods, there is no need for packaging. However, turns out this is only returnable via UPS. UPS would not process a return without the item in a box. Since this item came with no box and is quite big, the cost of buying a box just to return it was about as much as the cost of the hamper itself. Just so dumb. I guess just be absolutely sure this will meet your needs before purchase and be ready to clean it yourself when it shows up.
