Clean it before you play it. It’s amazing music after that.
Great album. Vinyl is good quality. It has a low noice floor. However I had to give it a good washing with my record cleaning “machine”. The record comes very dirty. Also replace the paper sleeve with a good quality plastic one made for storage. But once I cleaned it, The sound was better than I remember my CD copy.

One of the classics of all time.
After the death of Kurt Cobain, I lost interest in music for a short time.Helping a friend at his record shop, I heard Suede's debut album and got hooked into Brit music for the next 7 or so years. Although Suede was my favorite band of the era, this Pulp album was the best.An absolute masterpiece, the lyrics captured the mood of Britain- especially Common People which illustrates the hopelessness that so many feel.Get this album now, young regret it.Well your bank account may regret it as it'll turn you on to so much great music that never got the chance in America

A nostalgic trip
1) If you have never listened to this album (who hasn't?!) - Just buy it, don't listen to any of the tracks until it arrives. Unpack, turn up your volume, and sit on the porch with a beer. This is one of those albums where the tracks just keep getting better. Do yourself a favour and buy it!.2) If you have heard it - Why don't you own it already?

britpop classic
a great great album at the peak of britpop, this was one of the seminal albums. its worth owning just cause at the regeneration of british music this was on the centrepieces. full of references to working northern class life and angst. the stand out track being common people gives you a lesson in some brilliant music!

Reissue on vinyl lacking detail
The album is a classic, this pressing is average: Heavy vinyl but significant rumble in the run in/off and quiet passages; slightly muddy overall and lacking in detail. Vocals lost on several tracks including Common People. Bass feels subdued, top end has no vitality. I feel removed from the listening experience - the old cd I have is more engaging. Slightly disappointing sound but a quality composition.

Rubbish!
This review is for the vinyl record only, and put simply its absolute pants. The sound on this useless lump is terrible, buy the CD. It has had all the guts of the recording ripped out of it, sounds dull.I'm giving it 2 stars because it is a fine album, but do yourself a favour and buy a CD.

Britpop's Defining Statement
There are definitely Britpop bands I prefer - Oasis, for one - but I do think Different Class by Pulp is the genre's definitive moment. 'Common People', though played a lot, just is such an important song, and no track better encapsulates a whole people. And, well, it never gets old. Same goes with the crunchy guitar and jolting techno of 'Disco 2000'. But Different Class is so much more than that. 'Something Changed' is a really neat track from Pulp, and their psychotic, mysterious, Bond-esque theme in 'I Spy' is still one of the band's best - all these years later. 'Mis-shapes' and 'Pencil Skirt' is yet more of Cocker at his most debauched, but it makes for some pretty catchy tracks, with 'Underwear' proving the same. Different Class has a surprisingly diverse tapestry to it, from art rock to more conventional indie numbers, and undeniable early Britpop. Released five years from the end of the 20th century, it somehow couldn't be more timeless. Just read the quote on the back of the booklet; it rings true even today. Definitely recommend.

Amazing album, alright reproduction
Fantastic album, one of the 90s very greatest, so no faults there.Produced on a nice 180g vinyl which feels sturdy. The musical reproduction is pretty good, but there is a slight muddiness/rolled off treble to proceedings. The music doesn't sound quite as lively as I'd expected as a result. However, it's still an enjoyable listen and other than that can't fault the packaging or pressing quality.
