Replacement Silhouette Blade for Cameo, Portrait & Curio Cutting Machines

hese replacement blades worked perfectly with my Silhouette cutting machine and performed just as expected. Installation was quick and easy, and the blades fit securely without any issues. I had some trouble with the blade that came with my machine originally, but silhouette has great customer service and replaced it. I purchased the machine as a pre-order, so all of the current blades are perfect. I have been using one lade for over a year now, still works well! I do quite a bit of cutting, usually several projects a week. So this is very durable. I cut both paper and vinyl, it cuts intricate designs well. I do notice that I have needed to increase the force slightly as the blade wears, but that it acceptable since it still cuts well. Sometimes paper gets caught inside but there is a great youtube video on how to clean it without damaging the blade. I was initially concerned that since this blade comes as a unit. You cannot just replace the blade, you replace the whole thing. But it has more than met my expectations and since the unit has lasted more than 3-5 times that a Roland blade lasts, I am very happy with it. I still have Roland blades to use up, but they usually only lasted 1-2 months for me before I needed to replace them. As I used this product, I noticed that it lasted for much longer and have been pleased with that and it helped to justify the additional cost. It is actually more affordable in the long run.

These blades are great and the price is right at just over $7. Have only gotten one that wouldn't work so far out of about 5 I have ordered. Auto ship is a nice option for this product if you go through lots of them. Each blade comes with the depth adjuster, as pictured, but I don't need them as my Cameo has one built in. On a side note, if you are new to Silhouette. Test out each new blade on your papers; keeping scraps of your most used papers is a really good idea. I just store them in the same box as the tools and accessories for my machine. The reason being that not every blade will work the same way. I have had one that tore every kind of paper and was only good for making straight cuts. I had another one that had to be adjusted to a deeper cut than other blades because the blade did not stick out as far; so for a normal #2 depth I actually had to set that blade to #4. It is unfortunate that they are so inconsistent but probably is due to the blade and housing being mass produced together as opposed to just replacing a blade in a permanent housing. Anyway, do yourself a favor and test out each new blade with a design that has both straight and rounded cuts to be made.

I am just finishing up a huge project for a friend's wedding. I am making 25-four sided luminaries with a lid. Each box takes 5 sheets of paper with each of the 4 sides having an identical, intricate lace pattern (made from the "card lace center" from Silhouette online store) It has taken me 3 blades to get through the first 8, but only 1 for the last 17. I used Hobby lobby textured cardstock (I do not recommend this paper)finially settling on speed 1, depth 6. Things I learned about the blades.... slower is better for intricate patterns the fabric blades (which the silhouette website says are the same blade, diff. color so you can use one with paper, one with fabric) are much better becuase the very tip of the white cap twists off to in order to remove paper particles. This is a much needed adjustment to the blade. Once I started using these blades instead of the black blades, they last longer because the blade flows better from lack of paper, PLUS you dont damage the blade trying to clean out the paper using a straight pin or damage the ratchet system by twisting off the black cap as seen on several you tube videos. I am looking forward to the time when the old style black blade stock is used up and the new style is most common. I love my silhouette. sometimes it is hard to figure out exactly what blade depth and speed are best for each type of media/paper. it is always best to use a test cut, and when all else fails, use a sslllooooowwww cutting speed. the first few boxes I made with regular cardstock and Bazzil basics were easy to cut and I could use a faster speed. But price and "the perfect color" had me buy 100+sheets of the Hobbylobby textured cardstock. much drama ensued, but I finially fiured it out. Cricket matts seem to wear out the blades faster and do not work with "print and cut projects" (the black lines on the mat seem to mess with the optical sensor), but they are less sticky and if you have a major project with tons of repetitive cuts like this, it is kind of nice to use a cheaper mat. J'ai acheté cette lame de remplacement Silhouette pour ma machine de découpe qui commençait sérieusement à montrer des signes de fatigue. Après des mois de découpes intensives pour des projets de scrapbooking et de personnalisation de textiles, la lame d'origine tirait la langue : les coupes devenaient irrégulières, le papier se déchirait par endroits, et les motifs les plus fins se transformaient en boulettes de frustration. Avant d'accuser la machine, j'ai tenté le changement de lame, et j'aurais dû le faire bien plus tôt. Le remplacement est d'une simplicité désarmante. Un petit coup de levier pour retirer l'ancienne lame, on insère la nouvelle dans son logement, on reclippe, et c'est reparti. Pas de calibrage compliqué ni de réglage ésotérique, la machine reconnaît immédiatement son nouvel outil et reprend ses habitudes. Après avoir gaspillé trois feuilles de vinyle à cause de l'ancienne lame usée, la première découpe avec celle-ci a été un soulagement quasi immédiat. Le résultat est bluffant de netteté. Même les motifs les plus complexes, avec des courbes serrées et des petits détails, ressortent parfaitement découpés sans bavure ni accroc. Le vinyle se décolle proprement, le papier ne peluche pas, et j'ai retrouvé cette fluidité de travail qui m'avait fait aimer ma Silhouette au départ. La lame a maintenant quelques semaines d'utilisation régulière, et la qualité de coupe n'a pas bougé. La durabilité semble au rendez-vous, même si je ne peux pas encore juger sur plusieurs mois intensifs. Le seul petit point qui empêche l'enthousiasme absolu, c'est le prix. Ces lames de remplacement restent un consommable un peu coûteux, surtout quand on découpe beaucoup et qu'on sait qu'il faudra inévitablement en racheter. Certaines alternatives compatibles existent sur le marché, mais j'ai préféré rester sur de l'original Silhouette pour éviter les mauvaises surprises et les réglages hasardeux. On paie la tranquillité d'esprit, et pour l'instant je ne le regrette pas. Pour toutes les scrappeuses et les créateurs qui voient leur machine faiblir sans raison apparente, commencez par changer la lame avant d'envisager des réparations plus lourdes. Cette petite pièce toute simple a redonné une nouvelle jeunesse à ma Silhouette, et le flux de projets créatifs est reparti de plus belle. Un achat pas glamour, mais terriblement efficace.
