Q: Does this still protect against radiation when using phone for reading/watching?

This cover protects when closed, so when you have it open it will protect the other direction of the phone, not screen (as it will not be covered by the cover while reading/watching).

Q: The pictures appear to show using the phone without opening the case. Is that possible?

The case has to be opened in order to use it. You have to open the case in order to answer the phone, however you can talk on the phone with the case closed.

Q: is this single-sided protection or both sides?

Thank you for the great question! Our shielding technology is incorporated into the front flap as to provide protection in the direction of your body while still allowing signal to enter and exit the phone through the back panel. If we were to shield the sides and back, the phone would no longer be able to send and receive signal. That said, close the flap when on a call and position the phone so that the front flap faces you when in your pocket. Thank You, Team SafeSleeve
