Who knew that replacing a broken key fob for my car would cost between $200 and $300 dollars? Places that sell replacement key fobs charge ridiculously high prices to program them and cut the key. If you bring them an aftermarket key fob, they won't touch it. I was about to surrender and pay the greedy brutes too much money when I found this product on Amazon. I fixed my old, broken key in less than five minutes! What a relief. I'm jumping for joy - not just because I saved money, but because I outfoxed the louts at the hardware store and auto dealership.

My old key case cracked and broke and I was walking around with my trashy taped up key. Ordered this shell as I needed a replacement. The installation took 5-10 minutes and mostly took that long because I had to watch some tutorials. I did have trouble figuring out how to reassemble the fob back together. The key portion does need to be SLID into the non button side (sliding from the top down) then the 2 halves can be snapped back in place. My 2008 Honda CRV key fit perfectly. Some reviewers mentioned that the key holes don't entirely line up and they had to drill or enlarge the whole for it to line up. I did not have to do that at least with my fob. However, I initially attempted to re-use the OEM screw that came in my old fob but it was slightly thicker than the one provided and could not be used. I did end up using the screw that came in the kit and it did fit, however once I applied more pressure to tighten the screw (which you do need to put some downward pressure) the screw began to strip. I had to stop. The screw did go in well enough that it was sturdy and secure but it sticks out just a hair and isn't as flush as the original. I could purchase a silicone cover to 1. protect the key fob and 2. bring that smoothness back so it's not a deal breaker All in all, it's not a 100% perfect fit but it is a great fit for a Honda CRV and for $5.50 it is absolutely worth it. Going to a dealer or anywhere else would have been way more costly and honestly not needed. The only con I had was the screw quality, therefore 4 stars.

Perfect replacement for a broken case. easy to set up.

It fits, but it’s not durable or reliable. For comparison, it took 14 years for my original Honda key case to slowly crack and need replacing. And, it only took 1 year with minimal driving for this case to break completely (at once, without showing any signs of wear or cause for concern beforehand). Managing expectations and having a backup is probably the only way to buy this, if you can’t find another option.

The product worked to replace a broken key fob for our Honda. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that there is cutting involved. You need to get the memory chip out of the old key fob and put it in the new one. If you do not do this your key will not turn over the engine to run your vehicle. Fortunately my husband had the tools to do this and the resource of google! The product is a cheaper replacement than going to the dealership and paying hundreds to replace your key. You need to understand that the chip needs to come out of the old fob and have tools to get it out! Also be real careful not to damage the memory chip.
