works fine, make sure you have the right graphics card
Bought it hoping to get component video out of my graphics card, an ATI Radeon X300SE that came packaged with a Dell Dimension 8400. Dell and ATI is a bit sketchy about what exact video output with "TV-out" you'll get from your graphics card and despite scouring the internet, I couldn't get a straight answer about the X300SE. So I bought this adapter that plugs into a 7-pin mini-DIN socket on my graphics card (looks identical to a normal S-video 4-pin plug but has 7 tiny pins) and got a picture with colors missing. I tried mixing the cables with no improvement. I finally realized that the X300 SE card only outputs in S-video signal and so no matter what I did to try to fix this, I would never get component video (YPbPr) output to my older TV that doesn't take HDMI nor DVI. I am looking now for a cheap replacement computer graphics card that will use this adapter properly, there's quite a few. ATI now AMD does provide info on this at this web URL:[...]

Works, but not with Dell XPS M1210.
It doesn't work with every device that has one of those 7-pin mini DIN connector. The one I got from PNY works with my Dell XPS M1210 and my desktop Geforce GT9600. This one only works with the desktop graphics card. So it is not complete useless, but it could've been better. With that said, It does seems to work with most older Dell Inspiron machines.

I think the one I got is mis-wired
I was using this with a Radeon HD 3650 to a rear projection TV with component video inputs. This was for a newly built media computer on the same TV. The old setup used a Radeon 9800 that uses that ATI-proprietary DVI to component dongle. So with this new adapter, I plugged things in and tried to activate the display with Catalyst Control Center. I got nothing at all. I tried various swapped and rotated combinations of the red, green, and blue plugs to cables, and I was finally able to get a picture with blue to blue, and the red/green swapped. I could get the full 1080i picture, video, etc. but it was getting no red color in the TV display. I think something is wired wrong in this adapter, so I'm going to order another one from some place else to see if I can get one that works.

Did not fit my projector!
Unfortunately this item was useless for me!I did not know there where different adapter types of this kind. This cable is NOT to convert component to S-video. It has pins in the way, and won't fit in my projector's svideo input.Wished I had known this before I had bought it!

Beware
I couldn't make this work. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to AV and to connect an old projector with limited connectors to my bluray, I bought this. I tried every configuration I could think of but still no luck.

Adapter labeled as for use with S-Video connections, but not true.
I bought this adapter to convert from a S-video source to component input, but it turns out that S-Video uses a 5 pin connector, so this one was useless for my application. it was $4 of learning that S-Video is composite only!

it works
connects my old Dell e1505 with ATI graphics to my 1080p TV at 1080p resolution with minimal black bars on the side. Other resolutions are distorted or have large black boxes.

Not what I needed, but looks like a great cord.
I accidentally purchased the wrong Component to S-video adapter (Needed 4-pin instead of 7-pin). I'm going to keep the cord though just in case I end up needing it for something because it looks like a good quality adapter.
