Finally, the right thermometer.
I've searched for a wireless remote thermometer for both my truck and motorcycle. The ones I've found have been poorly made or had other issues. I'm pleased to report this one is superb for my needs. The package arrived quickly and didn't insult me with instructions for what is an obvious application/installation. The thermometer is accurate and the probe is well made. I added some silicone to the point where the remote sensor wire enters the body of thermometer, thus enhancing its water resistance. All this instrument does is tell the temperature -- that's exactly what I wanted. I used double backed super velcro to attach the thermometer on the motorcycle and I cut out a portion of the dash for the truck (the thermometer simply clicks into place and sits flush with the dash.) and put the sensor in an area where it gets good airflow. Now, I've ordered a third one for another application. I believe this meter could be used in numerous applications and I've tried it on air ducts and hot water. It is accurate in its readings.

This meter worked very well for my application and I want to tell the story
The cord is 9 feet in length. The probe end is about 3/8" dia. and the cable is about 1/8". This was all good news for my application. I tested it first in the freezer and it seems very accurate. The test was similar to the setup I planned to use for my final application. The cord was small enough to let the freezer door close and the gasket wasn't affected. But that was just a test. Putting the meter to my intended use, I snaked the probe through a vent in my boat and put the probe end through a hole I drilled in a plastic soda bottle full of water. I set the bottle in the bottom of the bilge and that lets me read the bilge temperature from outside the boat. That way I can turn on the bilge heater when the temp nears freezing and not have to run the heater full time. I drained the engine water but there is one place I'm not sure drains, so better safe than sorry. Air temperature is misleading so that's why putting the probe in water is the only way to go for something critical. The display is built with a standard snap-in mounting for an oblong cutout and that would be handy for some applications. The overall display is about 1" vertical x 2 wide".

Very Accurate, easy to read.
I have had this in my car for 2 years, and it works perfectly. Just so you know, it does not have a light. I highly recommend it, very accurate. You have to be handy to install it, the wire has to be routed through the cars firewall, engine bay, and mounted somewhere on the grill. It must be in the air flow, away from the road surface and radiator.

Where has this thing been?
I finally found a good thermometer. This unit does just one thing- tell the temperature in farenheitt. No buttons or lights. The unit is built so that it can be fitted flush in the dash or wherever. There are tabs to keep it in its housing should you mount it that way. Otherwise you can use double sided tape- the back is flat for sticking. I use mine in my car. It has a very small footprint. The battery is a small "button" type (included). The cord is very long with a little to spare- this is its strong point. The cord is a good thick guage, not the fragile type most are. I ran my cord through the driver's door-no problems. The screen is easy to read in sunlight, shade and night. The probe is just that- a probe. It is a 3/4 inch piece of steel. I used a zip tie to mount mine below the bumper. This unit is by far better than most car thermometers out there. I would buy another one an recommend to a friend.I have found it usually reads1 or 2 degrees cooler no matter the temp. I verified this with three other thermometers each time. Not a deal breaker for me, and it is just my observation.

Works well, but takes some effort to make a clean installation
It is sturdy and should last in my jeep. Easy to read, accurate with sensor tucked into front bumper. But meter is difficult to mount. It is designed to mount from the front into a thin, flat metal panel. Not the case for a typical dashboard, and even if possible, you'd have to access batteries from the back, meaning crawl under dash. Mount with Velcro? It will look ugly, and the Velcro will cover the battery compartment. I fabricated a custom bracket out of 20 ga sheet metal, ran a bead of glue gun to hold it in from the back.

Perfect for the Honda LX
So far so good. Out of the box, the unit was accurate within 0.5 degrees compared to my very accurate house thermometer. I bought it to install in our 2006 Honda Odyssey LX. The hardest part was finding a way through the firewall. Eventually I found where the shifter cable goes through the floor and punched a hole in the rubber boot and pushed the sensor through it. I then routed the wire around the driver side of the engine compartment and out to the front bumper. I mounted the display above the steering column and the 8' cable was just long enough to work. So far it is working well and I am very pleased with it. I will update the review later, if I have any problems with it.

Not a quality item for the price
I did receive the referenced temp sensor, and in a timely fashion. The itemdoes seem accurate within specified range and also has the option of celsiusor farenheit scales. I would have purchased another unit prior to learningof the Buler sensor had some of them also had the farenheit scale. I alsoread a number of customer reviews on the Buler which were mainly positive.Upon recieving and examining my unit I realized their sense of quality wasinsufficient to be a reliable source of information. I also expected the$28+ price to be a reflection of quality. That is where I have my greatestdisagreement. The plastic body is definitely a lesser quality of materialand the 'stainless steel' sensor on the unit appears to be a bright metalplating on a base of less durability than stainless steel. The retainingclips for holding the unit in a panel are also insufficient for the task andI have opted to surface mount the item in place of doing battle to removethe unit for a battery replacement. My thought is that half the $28+ pricewould be a questionably high price for the Buler temp sensor.
