From Dan Goor and Mike Schur, producers of The Office and Parks and Recreation, comes the hilarious Golden Globe Award-winning comedy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg, Saturday Night Live) is a Brooklyn detective with a gift for closing cases and little respect for authority. When no-nonsense commanding officer Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher, Homicide: Life on the Street) joins the 99th precinct with something to prove, the two go head to head. Showcasing a top-flight supporting cast and fantastic guest stars, Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season One on DVD comes fully loaded with all 22 riotous episodes and never-before-seen deleted scenes. Bonus Content: Disc 1 - Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season One Review: Feel good show forhard times. Funny, kind, loving friendships - the perfect show for a tough time - Brooklyn Nine-Nine is my happy place now. It's so unusual - always always funny, but never mean. It's a show with so much kindness and genuine friendship. It makes me feel as happy as Great British Baking Show. It has a lot of the great character development and friendship of Bones, without all the gore and violence that's hard to watch these days. Yes they're NYPD detectives, but it's light on the details. The writers genuinely see them all as human beings, in the fullness and complexity of what that means - they have strengths and flaws and feel real. I appreciate the way gender roles are portrayed - the men are kind and comfortable with emotions (I especially love the Boyle-Peralta interactions), and the women are tough and competent without being cartoons or stock Wonder Woman tropes. It is so refreshing to be able to watch a show without tripping over gender stereotypes - every show should handle it this deftly. The show also touches, in a gentle way, on some tough topics. Racism in policing, when Sgt Terry gets hassled when in plainclothes and has to decide what to do. Prison conditions, when Jake and Rosa are framed. Bisexuality when Rosa's parents aren't supportive at first when she comes out. I appreciate the light touch, as they deal with real issues, without being too fraught - we've all got enough on our plates right now, we need some escape, but also can't just pretend everything is fine. It's a really fine balance and I'm amazed at how well the writers navigate it. Thanks, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, for keeping us sane during a hard time. I mean that very sincerely. Review: Love this Show! - Pretty sure at this point that I'll watch anything that Michael Schur has had anything to do with. The man knows comedy. The Office and Parks and Recreation are two of the funniest shows to ever grace my television screen and when I came across the first season of Brooklyn 99 on sale for 10 bucks only to find that Schur. was a co-creator, I had to try it out. Besides, I'm a long-time fan of Andy Samberg, Joe Lo Truglio and Terry Crews. $10 bucks is nothing to lose for an entire season of a sitcom. And luckily, I was NOT disappointed. It was a bit slow to start, but the characters really fill out and develop over the course of the first season. It's not the obscene, in your face comedy that you'd find on some shows. It's more subtle and dead pan, Schur's usual style. I like any comedy except the super dark variety, so I'm all in. It's actually a pretty witty, comedically sophisticated show, if you can believe it. When I originally found out about the show two years ago, I thought, Andy Samberg playing a detective? Naaaaaah. But surprisingly, it works. I'll definitely be continuing on with the second season. I know the third season is currently headed to a close, so I don't know if I'll wait for its release or buy each episode on iTunes digitally. I do know know this though. I hope the show is nowhere close to being cancelled! It's a fun watch. : )

You can hate Samberg and still LOVE this show. (Spoiler alert, you may not hate him so much after all).
Often we hear a friend or colleague going on about how such and such a show is "underrated." It's a must see! they say. And you know, sometimes the show measures up to the hype. But not that, well, often. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is indeed a very underrated show, and it's fantastic. And sure, Samberg (playing Jake Paralta) is a scream, but it's the supporting cast that elevates this sitcom (is that term still in use?) to its highest hights. Quirky. Loveable. Sad. Fuh uh knee! Andre Brauer (Capt. Holt) is a top notch straight man (though the character he plays is an openly gay officer). Delivers his lines with seamless nuance, eliciting some of the biggest laughs offered up by the show. Charles' sycophantic support of his buddy Jake, along with his self deprocating humor are subtly and quietly hilarious. The writing for B-99 is genius, with echos of Sinefeldian level shenanigans rounding out the entire experience nicely. Do yourself a favor and catch up on the first two seasons. You'll die laughing.

Hilarious, Uncomplicated
The jokes on this show range from "so stupid you have to laugh" to genuinely quite clever. The ensemble cast works really well here - everyone is perfect for their roles, and they each bring something unique and likable to the table. I also love the diversity, it makes the characters easier for me to relate to, and more engaging. The show is reliably very fun and largely without having to rely on being mean. I really like humor that doesn't punch down, it makes it way easier for me to turn my brain off and just enjoy the media I'm consuming. Altogether, a fantastic new show with a great cast and a ton of potential. Highly recommended.

Funniest Show We've Watched in A While
My husband was feeling under the weather and so we decided to watch this. It was hilarious and addictive. The cast did an amazing job and for a long time we had trouble picking favorite characters. (J.N. is Team Gina, BTW & Tom is Team Holt or Terry). We are currently about to start Season 6 and as a couple who can lose interest in shows fairly quickly, it is impressive that we are still going. The earlier seasons are best but it is still pretty funny and entertaining in the later seasons.

This pilot is a good start to an excellent comedy series
This pilot is a good start to an excellent comedy series. To save $1.00 I ordered it in regular resolution instead of HD, and it was noticeably less crisp than the episodes we had watched during the regular airing of the show. In terms of content, I like how the different characters are introduced in the pilot and you get a sense of what they're going to be like. However, I do find later episodes of this show funnier than the pilot. We didn't start watching the first season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine until it was nearly finished and have enjoyed all the ones we've seen so far. Anyway, I'm basically "sold" on this show's silliness and oddball characters. Time to invest in a DVD of the first season - this one seems like a keeper.

Comedic Genius!!!
This show is refreshing because the writing is actually SMART and FUNNY. Andy Samberg plays an immature but astute detective who is in competition with another detective to see who can solve the most cases. At times Andy seems like a moron but, he's really a great detective, but doesn't like the status quo. The cast is diverse in that not everyone is famous. Andre Braugher is an amazing actor and, I'd watch just about anything that he is in. Besides, he's great to look at and his smile is gorgeous! This show is one that I would actually PAY to watch, which I did. Ordered the Pilot episode, watched it, then immediately ordered the next episode. DEFINITELY worth the watch! Enjoy!!

Best Cop Show EVER
Comedy cop show, that is. The characters are all rich and well developed, they all add to the laughs - no cop left behind. Andre Braugher's character does loosen up a bit in later seasons, but his stoic facial expressions are a riot in context. Andy Samberg's Jake Peralta is the right amount of stupid (Enough to make you laugh, but not so much the fact that he is a detective breaks the immersion).

Brooklyn Win Win
With a memorable cast & award winning producers you can't go wrong with this series, the opening scene sets the tone for what is a fantastic TV show, full of witty 1 liners & tongue in cheek moments, some of the jokes are cliché & predictable, but this is an American TV show & the way humour/jokes are scripted is different from the 'British' comedy, that aside, you shouldn't let that stop you from taking the plunge with this series. With 22 episodes & deleted scenes, there's plenty to keep the most avid comedy fan happy.

This is a great crew and a great cast
This is a great crew and a great cast. The first season was excellent and I really like Any Samberg in this role. I usually only watch serious cop shows but I love this comedic take better. Some people compare this show to the office but I find it is funny and more original.
